Zy'leth'zhalyth Ephemera magnatum "Nettlewraith", "Sea spectre", "Drifternet" A Zy'leth'zhalyth, with unfortunate diver for scale. Art by MaskedHero.Description: The Zy'leth'zhalyth is a species of net-like, unicellular organism native to Arcoszard. It consists of a central multi-layered core, consisting of a grey-green nucleus as an inner layer, with an outer layer containing its organelles, with a roughly spherical (but malleable) and nigh-invisible "net" structure. The creature drifts passively while its net picks up organic matter, excretes a digestive fluid onto it and slowly absorbs it. Its net is mildly adhesive, though it largely catches things via physical tangling, and the digestive fluid is intensely painful to be dissolved by. Behavior: What it does cannot really be described as "behavior", as it simply drifts on ocean currents while things become trapped in it. Tamability: It is fairly difficult to tame a single-celled organism, to say the least. Where is it found?: Found in Arcoszard's oceans, wherever the currents drift them. Rarity: Fairly common, and a fairly terrifying threat in all regions of Arcoszard's oceans. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Passive absorption of organic material that gets caught in its net. Products?: One could, theoretically, harvest it for its digestive fluids. Reproduction: Reproduces by cellular mitosis, fairly simply. Size: An average specimen will have a net of approximately 30' in radius, though they do have some variance, with a 1' diameter nucleus. Weight: Their nucleus is usually around 10-15lbs, with their net adding minimal weight. Lifespan: Theoretically endless, but being a simple and soft-bodied organism is often dangerous in Arcoszard's oceans. Abilities: Very painful to the touch, as it immediately starts excreting digestive fluid. Can regrow its net if damaged. Net is almost invisible. Flaws: Soft and easy to kill. Damage to the nucleus is almost always fatal.
