Name: Wyvern. Drakovenator trithienesis Description: Juvenile Adult. Wyverns are very maniraptoran in body plan, having modified forelimbs for wings and long slender legs equipped with mighty talons. When young they are fluffy and mostly flightless, making excellent pets. As they age the fluff falls out and is replaced by rigid scales and quills. Adults can reach a maximum length of 28 feet long, with a wingspan of 34 feet. Their scales are thick and sharp to the touch. Fluff on the head leaves behind sharp ridges and fin-like structures. Behavior: Wyverns are hunters and scavengers who soar on thermal updrafts for hours or even days scouting for something edible. They live in small groups until breeding season where they fly from all over the world to mate on a cliff-side. Once mates are chosen they create a nest and raise a family. They are very defensive over their children, but otherwise would flee as to save injury than to fight. Tameability: Wyverns are quite intelligent, capable of simple problem solving and recognizing them self in a mirror. This intelligence allows them to establish great family bonds and friendships. They also however can feel things such as betrayal and sorrow. They are very emotional creatures.Tamability: Been tamed for many centuries by Neo-Vikings and other civilizations alike, often being sold on underground markets for a pretty penny as exotic pets. If raised from birth they will think you its parent and will instinctively love you until it matures and wants to leave. If befriended from a young age they can become a lifelong companion. Wild wyverns should never be approached, but captivity raised wyverns can be, with caution. Where is it found?: The Savannah planet of Trithen where they currently thrive. Due to trade and such they can be found in many places of the galaxy in smaller populations. The Holy Dominion were known for rearing a small nest of Wyverns for their royal family and Wyvern eggs are on some rare occasions traded through The Fringe at high price for collectors.
