=WINDHOEK EXPEDITIONARY FORCE= -=SEMPARUS EN PURGATORUM=- We of the Windhoek Expeditionary Force are dedicated the great, noble, and courageous task of exploring the far reaches and depths of the Undercrypt. We serve as an elite force of adventurers, an elite force with the goal of collecting, protecting, and researching the countless lost artifacts and treasures hidden within the farthest realms of the Undercrypt. If you hunger for a greater purpose, then we invite you to join our ranks. -=OUR NOBLE ROOTS=- The Windhoek Expeditionary Force was founded in December of the year 3285 by the great Highlord Tyr Morgen Aldford, the legendary Hammer of Boreas. While leading a group of his most elite expeditionary guard toward Erebus, Tyr stumbled upon the nigh-abandoned shell of the Hiefreich Keep of Highreach. Once the seat of the terrible Demon Lich Baxel, Highreach had been left within the watch of the brave and righteous few who had toppled his reign of terror before he could once again attempt to expand his vile conquest to the further reaches of the Undercrypt as he had attempted to do centuries ago. However, as time went on from the fall of Baxel, those who had taken up the care of Highreach began to wane in both number and willingness to see to it that many secrets and the few brave souls who occupied its sheer cliffs and barren valleys would be protected. This is when Tyr's stewardship of Highreach, and the foundation of the Windhoek Expeditionary Force- rebuilt from the broken remains of the Kingdom of Windhoek, began. Seated in Hiefreich Keep, Tyr managed to contact all those who still had the desire to defend Highreach's treasures and to ensure the safe-keep of further Undercrypt relics. It was from this facility that Tyr led countless expeditions into the Undercrypt to retrieve lost artifacts and treasures for research within its great and powerful walls. The Anvil stands as a bastion in Boreas, a place of refuge from the frozen tundra and the icy wastes for soldiers, natives, and adventurers alike. It has come to have a highly-held reputation for serving the best hot chocolate on Purgatory Majoris. -=Hiefreich Keep=-The Windhoek Expeditionary Force's main facility and center of operations. A massive, imposing keep hewn from the cliffs of Highreach and nestled high above its ragged landscape. Hiefreich has a near bird's-eye-view of most of the cavern from its seat near the fall walls of the cave. The Keep is fully functional, and is supplied both from within Highreach and by means of regular supply routes with the Anvil. Its grand libraries contain centuries worth of lost knowledge on the most arcane and obscure of subjects. -=Artifacts=-As part of our illustrious history of expeditions and ventures within the Undercrypt, the Windhoek Expeditionary Force has a collection of artifacts and relics which have been successfully salvaged, secured, and studied under the watchful leadership of Tyr. Some of these artifacts' recovery and installation predate Expeditionary Force- found either during the era of the Kingdom of Windhoek or by Tyr's Anvil-led expeditions. Spoiler: [OUR COLLECTION] -Titus' Gate- Recovered, delivered, and installed into Hiefreich Keep by our own Squad Captain, Harry Banklin, Titus' Gate is a framed portal- a means of instant transportation between a position on the surface of Purgatory Majoris and Hiefreich. -Apocalypse, the Fiend Blade- An ancient greatsword, forged by Kryth’ka’liks’yns, a legendary Sh'kzf'agw'tq Arthmagus and militant conqueror. Many legends claim that those who wield this blade are guided by the divine will of the Worm Empress herself- though in being guided by this will, few can resist succumbing to their primal blood-lust. The blade itself is covered in countless runes- each a symbol of a life claimed by it. -Lorekeeper's Locket- A timepiece designed by an unknown horologist, the Lorekeeper's Locket is a watch that was designed not to keep track of the time, but instead- to approximate the strength of the anomalous flow within one's general vicinity. As this factor increases, the watch's ticking shall speed up. The movement of its hands, so far, seems entirely arbitrary. -Nonobozho the Guide- A mechanical horned owl hewn from darkened bronze and bearing ruby gemstone eyes, Nonobozho was designed by an unknown tinkerer. Created with a single-track mind, the bird seeks only to attempt to guide those around it toward its 'master'.
