    Backstory and More

On-going Story: Tomespark aims to live a respectable life in the Fringe and continue to build her career in any way, shape or form. Despite this, she wishes to make more friendships and perhaps even experiment with deeper relationships.

Backstory: Tomespark began her life in the same similar way as many other glitches had done so. Birthed to a hivemind kingdom to further its prosperity and survival in the wilderness it was constructed in. Built by parents in this hivemind’s higher class group, Tomespark was constructed to function as one of the royalty’s respected close wizards and mages, a term she understood as a ‘court wizard’. She and the few other higher-mages handled specific magic-related happenings in this kingdom and helped sufficiently in the formation of the kingdom’s mage-orientated regiments that the hivemind utilized to keep back the Agaran threat the hivemind was constantly under. These two parties had been locked in a deep stalemate of combat for a number of years, with both sides ever evolving to counter back their foes. It is still unknown to this day why these two were fighting, was it out of annoyance or a hold of land? The answers were perhaps gathered by a funded scientific group who had set up camp to study such phenomenon.

This monotonous life continued for years, perhaps even a decade or two until the metaphorical chessboard would see her placed into the frontlines once again, an event that would see her awakening. She was directed to conduct a routine patrol outside the safer walls of her kingdom upon the saddle of her metallic noble steed. The fungal presence nearby was preparing its own plan of attack, and sure enough, they perfected the time to strike. Out from the underbrush, armed Agarans rushed in on the robots at full steam, ambushing them with the rage of their fallen. Having been expecting small resistance if such was to be found, the glitch patrol was overwhelmed with some; even Tomespark, to be knocked off of their horses by the ferocity of the attacking Agaran menace. Upon the ground, the glitch wizard faced damage from the fungal-created blunt weapons being swung at her with such severity, her systems would soon crash.

Soon awoken in a land of mycelium and spores, Tomespark looked around and felt alien. She was knee-deep in her enemy’s territory. Another glance around, and she found herself tied to a post within a sort of hut-like structure. She also had spotted an unfortunate sight, of one of her fellow allies slaughtered with forever blank optics. Tomespark needed to escape from this hellhole, and that is what she put her mind to. Utilizing her flame emitter upon her left hand, she managed to burn away the vine-like material keeping her in place. Soon free, she wandered to the door frame and stepped outside. This action proved to be yet another mistake, as the globular eyes of an Agaran loomed over her. It reached for her, while yelling in its distant screechy vocalisations. In a mindset of defence, Tomespark unleashed another cloud of flame upon the fungus, visibly catching alight as it reached the being. This sensation felt strange to Tomespark, yet she could not focus on it. She needed to flee and escape.

Running down an overgrown path towards an assumed exit, the screams of the burning Agaran and the sounds of alarm filtered through her ears. The flame she first ignited in the shack had not been extinguished, and had continued to burn and spread. Other Agaran chased after her in hot pursuit, and soon she would be free. Having escaped an amount of time after, it was not without great cost. More Agaran had lost their form to flames upon her escape, and looking upon the small village. It was in a state of a horrid blaze. She stared upon her actions, out of the reach of the now panicked Agaran. Her feeling of difference never left her, and she felt more. Was it horror? She felt truly grim as the return to her kingdom was made.

Things would progress from bad to worse within her own walls. Her lone survival of recent events lead her to be wrongly painted as a demonic, crazed and even a heretic over the coming days. Feeling oddly disconnected from her people, and feeling the fear of incoming hostilities. She made her departure from the kingdom in the dead of night, not without the attention of a few guards who gave chase on her exit. She was eventually free of them, and no extra death was granted unlike the small border village of the Agaran. Her hours-long aimless journey was not empty of her thoughts of her recent actions and internal justifications. She thought of it in self-defence, and that she was careless with her ‘power’. In reality, the tiny hunting village was only miniscule in scale to the true Agaran population upon her world. The noon sun basked through her optics, and with a taken pause, Tomespark had discovered a set of structures unlike those of her own or the fungi. Approaching these structures, she found herself communicated by strange beings in another language. These attempts left her confused, and almost disorientated. There was another of her kind there too, but even the language he spoke was lost upon her.

Said base happened to be the one studying the conflict between her former people and those of the Agaran menace. She didn’t grasp where she was properly, and over the next few hours of this occurrence, a broken and primitive language exchange was soon brokered through miscellaneous sign-language with her and the caring scientists. Luckily enough, Tomespark was not the only glitch with her special case of ‘disconnect’. Her and this other glitch were organised transfer off-world after a day or two to the planet known as Melkanian Eclipse V. How the world had changed for Tomespark in a number of days.

Months would fly by from these events. Tomespark was provided with housing on this new planet, and she was placed into special classes to educate her on language, money and living in such an advanced and new society. These adjustments were rocky at first; as it would be for anyone new to space. She eventually gained her bearings a year or two later, in which she began to take interest in the proper formal study. Enlightened by the gathered positive responses to her magic, she built upon her interests of theater and visual arts to take it to a newer level. She enrolled herself in theater courses within an education facility and began to process of proper study. Progressing through and completing the said study, Tomespark built up her resume’ in terms of activities completed and performances undertaken. She was a decent student who showed promise as a glitch of the arts. Having this under her belt, she bumped into a travelling magic show ran by an Apex known by most on-world as ‘Dax’. As if the stars aligned, the Apex happened to be interested in taking apprentices. Having her ‘magic’ was a plus in her ‘audition’ and soon enough, she became a hired apprentice. She learnt the skills of the trade, and took part in smaller shows and was a delighted hit to the ‘wow’ factor his shows. Several years passed, proceeding into her second decade of self-awareness, Tomespark built up a decent name and wage for herself. She began to run her own self-employed magician entertainment service, after gaining the skills to do show prior to Dax’s retirement. She utilized table magic, illusionary zeal and her own prowess to put on an amazing show for many clients. Using the money gained, she built up an investment to purchase her own vessel to travel the stars. Merchandise was produced to a degree such as wands, caps and even jars sold with tiny water elementals within through an e-store.

One may claim Tomespark sought redemption, but as the year 3283 struck upon the clock, her business and success would climb to a sudden halt. Her planet home, Melkanian Eclipse V was struck by a deadly catastrophe. Unknown how it happened, her planet had fallen. Despite the collapse, she was luckily able to escape the planet during its sad untimely demise. She questioned if herself deserved to escape with her life, considering the cost of what her own freedom meant. Tomespark knew it could mean anything, and she continued her life nevertheless. Having her business and source of work utterly flattened, she lived off her craft and performed smaller jobs on the side to sustain herself. All was not lost, however, as this breathed new life into her interest of the stars. She eventually set her eyes on the expansive area of the Fringe, knowing how much adventure such an area can bring into one’s life and a new potential area to try her magician skills. To this day, Tomespark has remained in the Fringe and has settled within a lush world fixing up an abandoned shack to a livable state and meeting new people.
