Name: Corravian Scrapcrab, "Why we shouldn't have skimped on a clean industrial sector." Description: The relatively newly-discovered Corravian Scrapcrab is a simple Havenite crab species that has found its way to the waters of Corrav. Given the extent of pollution there, particularly locally, in zones with high amounts of industrial activity, this crab species has been either adapted or mutated in such a way that enables them to thrive in the biome of "junkyard." This was definitely an unintended byproduct of not-so-clean industrial processes. They vary widely in size, tend to be a rusty brown color with orange splotches and appearance-wise are most similar to a Hermit Crab. Behavior: Relatively docile. Corravian Scrapcrabs mostly just want to be left alone with their fellow crabs. As they're only partially capable of growing a shell however, they must protect their bodies by other means, such as grabbing pieces of metal and garbage from the scrapyards with their claws, placing it on their backs, and over the course of a few days, slowly fusing to it. Typically smaller crabs are seen wearing similarly sized metal gears and even small chunks of concrete they've dug out with their claws to fit their bodies. Tamability: Given how docile they are, they're fairly tamable, however people trying this may be pinched rather hard several times over before such an endeavor succeeds. Where is it found?: Primarily, the junkyards of Corrav on Haven in places where it is damp, but sometimes they wander out into the streets - particularly on rainy days. Rarity: Common. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Scrapcrabs are omnivorous, and typically feed on moss that grows in the junkyards, live insects and sometimes even dead rats and birds if they find them. Products?: A Corravian organization dedicated to protecting the Corravian Scrapcrab by all means necessary by preserving the diversity and size of the district's junkyards as its own biome, called the Scrapcrab Protection Coalition. They have a lot of guns. Reproduction: Sexual. Size: Anywhere from a medium-sized spider, to the size of a large dog. They continue to grow as they age, and the polluted moisture and other things in Corrav might have contributed to more rapid cell-division in some of their genes. Weight: Minuscule, to 30 lbs. Lifespan: Around 25 years. Abilities: They larger ones can pinch pretty hard, and they wear garbage as their shells. Smaller ones tend to wear things such as small gears, bits of concrete and large coins. Large dog-sized ones tend to wear things such as entire television sets with the screens smashed out. Flaws: Despite thriving pretty well in the junkyards now, their proneness to developing cancer is typically what takes them out. In theory, if they didn't get cancer, they can live indefinitely. Almost all of them that don't get killed by predators die to cancer. Removal from the junkyard they reside in or even medical intervention may slow or stop this process altogether. Other: The mother crabs, which tend to be on the large side, are quite territorial regarding their eggs, even going as far as to attack things quite a bit larger than them. They'll snip your fingers off with their claws for touching them.
