    Name:
    Sand Worm - Vermis arenam

    Description:
Ridiculously huge worm with tan skin and hundreds of rows of sharp teeth in its mouth.

    Behavior:
They usually dive in and out of the sand to show there territory but if they want to attack something they usually hide deep under the sand and then burst out to consume prey. Normal sandworms travel in search of any large living thing above the sand for food, or a large group of small things for food. Some sandworms have even been seen bursting out of the ground with great power to go into the air and consume ships coming in. This is possible because worms actually have light receptors instead of eyes and if they surface and see something in the sky creating a shadow on the ground or distorting how light is suppose to hit the sand via the sun by blocking it in the sky. Normal sandworms are beckoned by a queen to feed her by regurgitating eaten prey into her large mouth at the surface in the sand so she may produce many many eggs. Queens rarely if ever move from their spot and just spend their time laying dozens and dozens of eggs to hatch into more sandworms. Queens are chosen because sandworms have a rare genetic mutation that allows them to produce an excess amount of eggs but require more food to accomplish this. Once a queen has nested itself into the sand and fed by other sandworms, it will store special eggs within itself that have a high chance of containing the genetic mutation of being a queen. If there is a queen in the area and another sandworm with the mutation is around, it will mostlikely die off from not having normal sandworms to feed it.

    Tamability:
Very rarely tamable, they seem to be attracted to high pitch notes in a series strung together from whistles.

    Where is it found?:
Anywhere with copious amounts of sand.

    Rarity:
Depends on how large a desert is. The larger a desert, the more worms.

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy:
Omnivore, it will eat anything that moves on the sand above.

    Products?:
Not really, but their skin is very hard but very thick

    Reproduction:
    Sexually.

Eggs (Being about the size of 10x10 foot room and being the shape of the eggs in the picture but being pale) are usually layed at the end of every month underneath the sand near the tail end of a queen or partner (About 30-40 eggs in one laying for a queen and 20 eggs for a normal worm), with eggs usually hatching in 2-5 months. The young worms are about 40-50 feet and usually surface after their eggs hatch to look for small prey to eat. Alot of worms perish by either being eaten by larger creatures above the sand or not being able to find food for themselves. The younglings take about a year or two before they become a mile long and become an adult. Sandworms usually come down to fertilize the eggs that the queen produces. Sandworms reproduce like the earthworm mating depicted above, but instead coming down to manually fertilize the eggs that have been layed if there is a queen.

    Size:
Very very large, probably a mile long. Queen is 3 times larger than a normal worm.

    Weight:
Probably ~10000 tons and for the queen possibly ~30000.

    Lifespan:
Around 400 years but for the queen it could live for 1000 years.

    Abilities:
    • Very very large.
    • Thick and durable skin that is like plating and can stand up against a mortar round.

    • Their mouths are about as strong as their skin and have hundreds of rows of razor sharp teeth for crushing and chewing up anything that enters.

    • Incredibly fast under and ontop of the sand.

    • Able to sense anything that moves on the sand and in the sand via an electro-magnetic energy signal that is sent up to the surface and then bounces back to be received by the worm. This signal can easily show a humanoid being. Here is a picture of how well the signal travels in different types of sand;
[IMG]This image shows that nice dry desert sand is best for the sandworms and if there is an abundance of water, in or around the sand, then cannot sense well with it being there. It also shows that the sandworms do not handle beaches well. (Because saturated sand is usually found at beaches and shore lines.)
    Flaws:
    • Insides are incredibly weak, you throw a large explosive inside and blow it up, their organs are gonna fail.
    • Electricity goes through them really easily and will fry their insides to result in a death.
    Other:
