    Name: Light Scarab, 'Scaredy Bug'

Description: A large, black beetle with near clear wing covers. At night these wings glow with a multitude of colors. The colors depend on age, with smaller ones having purple, pink, and warmer colors, which slowly die down to cooler colors later in life. They have a singular horn, much like the wings.

Behavior: A light scarab totters around on six legs, peaceful until encountered, in which case it runs. It can be very timid, even if domesticated. If so, it sticks very close to its owner. It will never eat while its being watched. When scared or threatened, it will flash bright colors and rear it's horn defensively. Fights between two over territory can last for days, as they freeze up and try to scare the others away. This is somewhat popular in Hylotl pastimes.

Tamability: Its a bug, so you could just pick it up or something. Food and closeness will make it recognize its owner. They're usually kept in cages as lights.

Where is it found?: Pretty much anywhere with plants and water, much unlike it's name. It doesn't mind cities.

Rarity- Semi-Common. You're less likely to find one in cities then areas with vegetation.

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and food: Scarabs are omnivores, but usually eating plants. They can eat others of their species, however.

Products?: Their wing covers and horns are very hard, and usually (unless diseased) will continue to glow at night for several years. They've found a use in fashion for this fact. They're also a good source of protein.

Reproduction: Scarabs reproduce sexually, making small knots in trees for their spawn. They don't reproduce often, only once in their lives.

Size: Scarabs are large for insects, usually weighing in about the size of a fighting beetle. They can be bigger, and the largest has been about ten inches long.

Weight: They're heavy, and at average size they weigh about a pound and a half.

Lifespan: Scarabs live a long time for insects, usually eleven years.

    Abilities: Lightshow.

Flaws: It's a bug. Just squash it.
