Name: Inari Foxes or better known as Sugarfoxes

Description: Inari Foxes are not a true breed of fox. This is evidenced by their gripping front paws and their ability to stand and walk on their hind legs, though they prefer to walk on all fours. They are bred and genetically modified to engineer the perfect therapy animal. These little foxes have large round eyes, a short, stocky body, and a coat which rivals the softness of a chinchilla. Due to their highly “manmade” features, they have a large variety of coats, colors, and specializations. Some even have tiny horns and aesthetic wings. They have a wide vocal range from chirps, coos, and even laughter.

Behavior: Sugarfoxes are dubbed such for their sweet, kind nature. Sugarfoxes are highly intelligent and empathetic, making them the perfect pet for people who suffer from loneliness, depression, and other mental illnesses. Their intelligence borders on sapience, allowing each to develop their own personalities, likes, dislikes, and giving them the ability to help with tasks that mental illness can make difficult. They are also capable of learning their owner’s language over time, and mimic their speech to a small degree. Reportedly the most common occurrence of this happening is with a sugarfox’s favorite food or the name they hear their owner called the most.

Tamability: Sugarfoxes are all but extinct in the wild, and any Inari Foxes found in the wild would not resemble their domestic counterparts at all.

Where is it found?: Pet stores, breeders, and their owners.

Rarity: Fairly common in cities where genetic engineering is considered a trend and a fashion statement, but otherwise uncommon.

Diet: Sugarfoxes consume more than most pets, but are omnivorous and relatively easy to please with generic pet food. However, spoiling a sugarfox with treats may make it hard to make them go back to normal food again.

Products?: Due to their pet exclusive nature, there are not many willing to make products from them. However this has not stopped a black market trade of their fur.

Reproduction: Sexual, though since some are infertile due to their highly modified status, some designer breeds only exist through cloning or labs.

Size: They range in size from that of a teacup chihuahua to a beagle when standing on all fours.

Weight: Between 6-30 pounds depending on size.

Lifespan: More designer breeds may die in 20-30 years due to complications with their genetics, while other, more “natural” breeds can be a lifetime commitment of 40-60 years.

Abilities: Sugarfoxes are highly empathetic, intelligent, and their cuteness makes them very loveable. Their front paws are capable of gripping and holding items that are small in size. The largest sugarfoxes may be able to carry a couple books. They are capable of jumping like cats and a bit of climbing due to their long fluffy tails that are capable of gripping.

Flaws: They are so dependent on an owner that living without one could quickly lead to death due to their highly social and naive nature.
