    [/b]Name of Aug/Tech: [/b]Controllable Liquids

[/b]Description[/b]: To the naked eye of liquids being controlled, the liquid simply moves about as it normally would at its viscosity at 1G; more viscous liquids or semisolids move more slowly while runny ones move quickly.

[/b]History of Aug/Tech:[/b] The science (and in the terms of Glitch hiveminds, magic) of controlling liquids began long ago as an invention of brilliant Glitch Archmages, especially the research of Archmage Mechaz0r into the ‘magical' properties of quantum tethers. Though while controllable liquids became a popular tool of Glitch sorcerers and wizards, some use was also found for it outside of Glitch technology; many other races adapted the use of nanotechnology to control liquid in entertainment performances, types of mechanisms, and other creative applications (such as painting).

[/b]How does it work?:[/b] The actual workings of controlling liquids work using nanomachines; the nanomachines are constructed from complex nanocircuitry with a ferozium casing that help act as a superconductor to facilitate a quantum tether to the liquid around it; when deployed, the nanomachines float or crawl into the liquid, submerging themselves throughout the desired volume and moving through it, using the quantum tethers to move the liquid on mass with it. Many of these nanomachines are purely designed as batteries that use the quantum fluctuation to grant power to the other nanomachines, typically lasting at least 30 minutes until the power nanomachines are recycled. The mass of nanomachines moves at around the same speed as the liquid would on Earth, due to the mass and viscosity needed to tether it; water would move fairly quick while molten lava would move slowly. Thankfully, the ferozium casing, microscopic size, and quantum fluctuations help to shield the nanomachines from heat.

The nanomachine masses can be controlled by a large variety of inputs, whether it be a joystick or a complex neurological interface. The nanomachines are typically stored in a container when not in use, and may be retrieved by them simply floating out of the liquid or clumping together, after which the battery nanomachines may be charged with a low-voltage electrical current. Depending on the liquid, an electrical current through it may actually work to charge the batteries, though most liquids tend to not contain a solute of electrolytes such as salts to facilitate current.

While the nanomachines controlling the liquid are reliable and resistant, they ultimately fail against even a moderate EMP attack. All military EMPs will completely disable the nanomachines and destroy them, rendering the liquid being controlled no longer controllable. Because they are nanomachines, it is cheaper to simply purchase or create new ones than to repair them. As for obtaining such power, Glitch sorcerers or wizards may have stores of the nanomachines or blueprints to make them, and technology companies such as AkCorp tend to sell them as well.

The nanomachines automatically will diffuse throughout the liquid at even amounts. Typically, one cc (cubic centimeter) of these nanomachines will be able to move 30 cc (of water) depending on how dense the controlled liquid is. Liquids may be moved to float into the air as well, at the same speed.

Aside from the tether nanomachines and the battery nanomachines, another type is available a well; while doubling the volume of nanomachines needed, nanomachines composed of ferozium with different circuitry can be used to create a quantum fluctuation of zero-point energy that can quickly lower the temperature of liquids, freezing it to just around -5 centigrade. This can be used to suddenly freeze water onto something (though may be weak) or to quickly cool down metal. This method has found quick popularity among artists, who can make brilliant sculptures of ice or metal.

    [/b]Intended use:[/b] Power over liquid.

    [/b]Strengths[/b]:

    -
Can control liquids such as water or molten metal.

    -
    Lasts 30 minutes typically.

    -
Can be hooked to a variety of control inputs.

    -    Can use freezing nanomachines as well.

    [/b]Weaknesses:[/b]

    -
Completely useless against an EMP attack.

    -
Liquids will only move depending on its viscosity and mass.

           -    Freezing nanomachines add double the volume and weight.

[/b]How do you believe this will assist in benefiting roleplay?:[/b] Aquamancy, lavamancy, etc. Generally, more stuff for perhaps Glitch to use or other people. Could also probably be used for art, such as shaping molten metal into stuff or moving wet paint with it.
