A Chameleon Prawn. This one is blue! Name: Chameleon Crustacean / Prawn / Shrimp / Other transferable word for the same kind of animal. Description: Large crustaceans with small pincers and multicolored carapaces. Very similar in body structure to your average prawn. Behavior: Typically, these crustaceans are quite timid and not very likely to pinch or bite anybody unless provoked, and even then, very unlikely to cause any serious harm to something the size of your average sapient creature. They're much better suited for pinching and hunting smaller ocean-dwelling creatures such as soft-bodied fish and other, smaller crustaceans. Tamability: Very tamable. They're some of the most often domesticated pets where they can be found simply by virtue of being relatively harmless to sapients, and having a rather easy temperament. They're also quite well liked for their beautiful, varied coloration, which changes based on both external and internal stimuli; from environmental factors to emotional ones - as much 'emotion' as they can feel anyway. Where is it found?: Primarily the oceans of Myn IV. They can thrive in the warmer waters of other saltwater oceans however, but spreading them around on other planets is not advised for the obvious fears of them becoming an invasive species. Rarity: Common, where they are found. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Feeds on moss and other relatively stationary sea life much of the time, but when presented with smaller crustaceans or soft-bodied fish that aren't likely to eat them, they're opportunistic predators. Products?: They can be eaten, so meat. Their meat is like a mix of lobster and shrimp. Chewy, with the same flavor. Reproduction: Sexual. Litters of Chameleon Prawn can be anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 eggs depending on the size of the mother carrying them. Size: Anywhere from 7 inches long, to 18 inches long. At birth, they're typically only around 1 inch in length. Weight: Anywhere from 3 to 8 pounds. Lifespan: Can live for upwards of 50 years. Abilities: Quite a good sense of smell. Excellent vision. Tiny and mildly painful pincers for most sapient creatures. Can change color depending on things such as temperature, the lighting they're in, the colors around them, and mood. Flaws: Dumb.
