Name: The Beefish- "Nightmare Fish"- Antigonia apis

Description: Beefish come in three varieties.

*The workers, which are often large and sluggish, who exit the hive the most often. They can stay on land for upwards of an hour, and require thirty minutes underwater once their time is up. If away from water for too long, they'll begin to dry up, leading to an unfortunate death. Image Album.

*The drones, who like real bees, can only be seen in the hive for reproductive reasons and are otherwise solitary. Drones are often slim and eel-like and are known for their otherworldly beauty- both expressed in their movements and bright, bio-luminescent markings. These traits are often used to assist in mating. They rarely leave the water, leaving them with upwards of thirty minutes on land. Image Album.

*The legendary queen, a massive and terrifying organism. Unlike the other varieties, these are much larger and almost never leave the hive, leaving them with only approximately fifteen minutes on land. The queen, unlike other beefish, have a more bee-like look, with a fish-like tail. They are often much larger and far more intelligent than their worker and drone counterparts. Image Album.

    *Larvae

Behavior: Beefish are very aggressive. They will attack most non-beefish on sight, not stopping unless the target strays far from their gives territory or until the target succumbs. Though beefish can attack with fangs, their more dangerous and significantly more fatal alternative is their stingers. Upon being stabbed, the beefish can inject the subject being stung with severe levels of neurotoxin, leading to quick, most likely unavoidable death. Unfortunately, the beefish is also killed in the process.

Tamability: Beefish cannot be tamed. If a larva is found and captured, the larva will accept love and care. However, only up to a certain point of growth, where its kill on sight instincts will kick in, the beasts always attacking their owners. This does not mean the species can't be modified to serve as pets- however, such creatures will be covered in separate applications.

Where is it found?: They are spotted in deep sea areas, normally on coasts. One example of a beefish hive is a hive in Djarus of the Undercrypt. They are also common in Erebus of the Undercrypt.

Rarity: Workers and queens are found commonly within their hive's territory, almost never naturally found outside of their territory. Drones can be found outside of hive territory, and often are.

Diet: Beefish are omnivorous, having two food sources. The first source is honey, produced much like normal bees in the hive. The second is prey- beefish workers will go out and hunt down both aquatic and terrestrial creatures and kill them, bringing what they don't eat to the hive to share.

Products: Beefish produce an extremely rare and unique honey, leaving it to be a rare and expensive delicacy. Queen's also have a unique attribute. A gland in their body slowly excretes phobos gas, leaving their hives a zone of fear. These glands are very valuable to the right buyer. Their meat is also a delicacy, loved among seafood enthusiasts.

Reproduction: Very much like bees, the queen will lay bunches of eggs to be fertilized by the drones of the hive. Drones, once finished mating, are thrown out of the hive and are solitary until next mating season.

Size: Beefish workers are around the size of a black bear, with drones more serpentine body type making them longer but smaller. The queen towers over the rest, around the size of a smaller scale shark.

Weight: Depends on the size and type of bee, though they're generally light to sustain a hover.

    Lifespan:

    *Worker: Around fifty years.
*Drone: Around twenty-five to thirty years.
*Queen: Upward of one hundred years.

    Abilities:

*As stated before, the beefish queens have a gland that slowly excretes phobos gas which spreads through the hives.

*Flight, though it's essentially just hovering above the ground.

*Rather fast swimming, reaching upwards of 20~mph.

*Decent vision underwater, as their hives are normally pitch black.

*The other variations of beefish (drone and worker) have, over time, evolved an immunity to phobos gas, which is common through their hives.

    Flaws:

    *Poor vision.

    *Queens lack flight.

*Like real bees, workers can only sting once. Attempting to remove their stinger from a stabbed organism will result in organs being pulled out, and thus death of the bee.

*Their flight is sluggish and slow, however, their ground mobility is even slower.

*Their flight, though faster than dragging themselves along on the ground, is clumsy and decently slow. A light jog could outrun one of these. Just avoid an underwater confrontation, or swarm of beefish.

    Other:

    *Why

*Extremely dangerous, alone and especially in swarms.

    *Fish or insect? Yes.

    *Always more to come ;^)
