    Name:
    Avian Energy Sword

Description: A ferozium hilt with a button on it that produces a violet blade when pressed and held.

Abilities: Creates a hot (roughly 500°C) blowtorch effect that functions like a sword blade.

    Conditional abilities: Bright light.

Limitations: Can only be used for thirty minutes before it needs recharging. Often unstable.

    Conditional limitations: Loud.

How does it work: Inside the hilt is an Avian crystal sat in a ferozium case for the first layer (with a hole in the top for the blade to emerge from and a hole in the bottom for arc of electricity to come through) and below it is a small supercapacitor that releases a large amount of electricity when the button is activated and sends it up the wire where it hits the tungsten wire cage and sends a charge into the crystal - which overcharges it and sends a stream of energy straight out of the end of the hilt, where it forms the “blade”.

Flavor text: The blades were originally reserved for the elite guards of the Stargazers but the restriction was lifted due to a lack of usage once more efficient alternatives came along and a political campaign to allow civilians to own such weapons for cultural purposes.

    Attainability: Open

Hey there. I'll be grading this today. Firstly, what exactly is the blade meant to be?

Not quite sure what you mean. If you mean the actual blade part, then it's the energy from the overcharged crystal being directed through an open end in the blade, the reason it's able to be directed is because it has nowhere else to go due to the ferozium. It's manifesting like a long blowtorch. My inspiration for this was in the history of the Avians, where it mentioned the discovery of the use of the crystals - which was when some lightning struck a crystal and overcharged it, causing it to release it's stored energy and set ablaze some nearby logs.

Is it an energy blade? A plasma blade? A blow torch and not actually a blade?

Ah, it's a blade of energy, yes. Sorry for the kafuffle. I just used blowtorch to paint an image of what it is.

Alright. I'll be giving this a failure then, as energy blades aren't really a thing in GC's setting. I'd recommend looking at plasma blades, since they fulfill a similar niche.

I see, that's a fair judgement. Plasma blades look cool, I was designing this more to add to Avian lore than personal use, but if I feel the itch to be a space knight - I'll keep Plasma blades in minds. Thank you for your time, have a nice day! :)
