    Name: Amoesma, Amoesmae

    Description:
(Above: Several large amoesma seen floating inside a cave system in hyperspace.)
Amoesmae are strange, ameboid phase matter organisms that exhibit similar characteristics to amoeba. They constitute a family of phase matter organisms of classification Amoesmoa, meaning there are a variety of different species of Amoesmae. Different species of amoesmae have different appearances, sizes, etc., with sizes ranging all the way from microscopic to the size of entire buildings.

Amoesma are very simple phase matter organisms; they possess a rudimentary central nervous system similar to a brain, with nerves that web outwards throughout their phase matter body, which is made up of light organic phase matter, typically carbon based. They move via a pseudopod and either float or move along the surface depending on the species.

Behavior: Different species of amoesmae behave in different ways. Most species possess only basic intelligence, similar to that of animals or even bacteria, simply wandering in search of food. Some rare species of amoesma, however, possess intelligence though they cannot speak as we do. In even rarer circumstances, intelligent amoesma can even possess psionic abilities.

Tamability: Widely depends on the species. Most do not have a sophisticated enough intelligence to develop bonds or even memory, though there are species that do. Intelligent amoesmae, being sapient, develop bonds like most other sapient organisms.

Where is it found?: Amoesmae are very common phase matter organisms. They can be found in most places throughout hyperspace, and most species of amoesmae are interlopers, allowing them to exist in realspace like many other phase matter organisms. Some species can live in space.

Rarity: Amoesmae are very common, though some species are rarer than others.

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Amoesmae consume food by engulfing it into their body, digesting it into nutrients and energy from there. Different species of amoesmae consume different things, though most consume smaller phase matter organisms or animals.

Products?: Amoesmae don't produce any useful products aside from decaying phase matter.

Reproduction: Amoesmae reproduce asexually, able to split their nuclei into two and splitting their bodies to clone itself.

    Size: Dependent on species.

Weight: Dependent on species, typically very light due to phase matter biology.

Lifespan: Dependent on species. Typically correlated with size.

Abilities: Depend on species, but common characteristics include:
    • Very light due to phase matter biology. Species can have different neutric densities, and some can even pass through barriers.
    • Amorphous body allows them to move through very tight spaces.
    • Lack of complex organs allow them to sustain more damage without dying; because their nuclei is at the center of the body, they can be difficult to actually kill. Plasma blades are very effective against them, though some species can tolerate being split, turning into identical amoesmae as long as pieces of their nuclei exist in both splits.
Flaws: Depend on species, but common flaws include:
    • Due to being made of phase matter, they are vulnerable to energy weaponry. The degree of this vulnerability depends on their neutric density. Exceptionally vulnerable to energy cutting weaponry such as plasma blades.
    • Most possess only basic intelligence, on the level of animals or bacteria.
