Name: Rebounder Gauntlets, "Catch and Release", Matrix Gloves.

Description: A modified pair of ZPEM Gauntlets, with emitters tuned to project a field rather than projecting to a particular point.

    Abilities:

Rebounder Field: The gauntlets, when activated, emit a field that redirect any that passes into the field towards the direction the gauntlet is facing. The field has an 8 inch radius from the central emitter in the palm of the gauntlet. Anything physical that enters the field is stopped in it's tracks, being held in place by the ZPEM until the field is either dropped or Dispersed.

Catch and Release: Objects caught up in the field can either be harmlessly Dropped, or Flung in the direction the glove is facing in one big burst. Flinging objects like this consumes a substantial amount of power from the battery, requiring it to be switched out before the gauntlets can be utilized again. Flung projectiles all have the same kinetic force applied to them, meaning larger projectiles fly slower and smaller projectiles fly faster. Projectiles flung in this manner have enough force to embed themselves in wooden surfaces.l

    Limitations:

Based on ZPEM: The Rebounder Gauntlets are based on ZPEM gauntlets, and as such have the same limitations as a ZPEM gauntlet as far as the mass of an object is concerned.

Potential for Injury: Just like how a user of a ZPEM Gauntlet would experience muscle strain when lifting objects of sufficient mass, users of a Rebound gauntlet may experience bruising or even muscle tears if attempting to catch a projectile with a great amount of energy behind it. Weapons such as Sniper Rifles or Light Machine Guns will most assuredly cause these muscle tears.

Spool-up Time: Drawing enough power from the batteries to get the field created, and subsequently keep it going, is not instantaneous. It takes a few seconds to actually get the field going, or about 1 turn in CRP.

Energy Cost: Creating and sustaining the field is very taxing on the battery, and it can only really last for 3-4 "turns" before fizzling out, not being able to draw any more power from the current battery cell until it's switched out. The call also needs to be replaced after use of the Fling functionality. It takes a "turn" to swap the battery out in either case. If the battery in the gauntlet dies before the projectiles are flung, they fall to the ground, as the ZPEM has already drawn the kinetic energy out of the system.

    Conditional Limitations (Optional):

Must be Physical: Because the gauntlets work off of Zero Point Energy, they can only redirect things that have mass to them. You won't be able to redirect a laser using the gauntlets, as it's just a beam of pure energy without physical form.

Works Both Ways: Just like it catches bullets being flung at you by your opponents, so too does it catch your own bullets. If you are holding the field out infront of you, and you are trying to shoot at someone on the other side of it, you won't really be accomplishing much of anything.

Limited Size: An 8 inch radius from the palm is helpful for protecting the braincase and the heart and such, but all-encompassing protection it is not. While being held out infront of a humanoid of average height and build, the coverage would end at around the middle to lower torso.

How does it work: By altering the emitters of a Zero Point Energy device, the device has been tweaked to generate a field around itself which it effects, rather than locking onto a specific object to move.

Flavor text: Originally discovered by accident while tweaking with a ZPEM device in an attempt to increase lifting capacity, the capabilities of projecting a "field" of ZPEM was experimented with for a number of applications, before the engineers eventually landed on "catching bullets because it's cool". Fringe engineering in it's purest form.

Referenced Technologies (Optional): Zero Point Energy

Potential for Injury: Clarify what kinds of weapons will provide 'too much energy.' Maybe sniper rifles and light machine guns get through, but assault rifles and lower are caught.

Energy Cost: Clarify what happens if the field 'runs out' and it has things currently in 'catch'

    Conditional Limitations:

-Generally only protects upper body, or only one side of upper body if the user is particularly large. If it is being used to protect your head, it probably leaves your stomach exposed.
-Because of that, unless you are huge, you can't use a projectile weapon at the same time as the gauntlet's field is active.
