Name: Beacon of Madness Description: The device can take many shapes but most often, the Beacon will be disguised as something benign or ominous, preferably set up somewhere tall and open with a lot of people nearby. It can look anything from a vantablack monolith to a simple radio tower and often comes with its own dedicated power source or the means to connect itself to a wider energy grid it can siphon. Abilities: +Induces headache, blurry or glitchy vision on exposure +Prolonged exposure may result in: involuntary spasms, blindness, ghost sensations, irrational thoughts, extreme moodswings. +Several days of exposure may result in: Hysteria, Breakdown of rational thoughts, Depression, Rage, Violence towards others and self Limitations: -Weak effective range of ~500m -Easily spotted using radars or dataflow visualizer -Sound and Electromagnetic insulation weaken the effect of the beacon -If not fed power from an external source often cannot last more than a month using internal power source How does it work: Like the name implies, the beacon of madness' purpose is to spread chaos and madness by disturbing brain activity. It does this by emitting specific ultrasounds and electromagnetic impulses that interact with organs both internal and external depending on the energy, frequency, and wavelength. For example, it could vibrate the cornea, making it difficult for one to focus their vision and causing extreme strain on the eye that may force one to look away and shield their eyes from what may appear to be an attack of paranormal origin. Electromagnetic pulses not strong enough to fry or disable electronics but strong enough to cause interference with sensitive systems within synthetics that lack proper insulation, causing involuntary spasms, phantom pains, graphic display errors, etc. To incite further paranoia and fear, specific infra-sounds and ultra-sounds are emitted by the beacons in irregular and unnatural patterns to try and destabilize and assault one's senses, flooding the senses with useless stimuli. All of these factors often leads to headaches, weariness, sleeplessness, paranoia, mania, and prolonged exposure has been known to cause some minor irreversible brain damage.
