Name: Soul Coins Description: Soul Coins are a form of 'currency' that exists as a basic storage device for a transcripted engineered intelligence. They typically appear as large coins (a little thicker and wider than a half dollar coin), coated or solidified of any metal and bearing unique designs on them, most often the designs indicating their origin of manufacture in whatever 'Soul Mill' they were created at. The small storage chip inside of them is coated in a layer of cerullium that makes it immune to EMP and electrical damage, easily done due to the small size. (Above: A silver Soul Coin minted in Erebus of the Undercrypt, the chip within stored with the mind of a dead adventurer that dared to wander in.) Abilities: High value in certain places that accept them; often used to purchase unique things of high price, especially in the Undercrypt where they are most prominent. Safely stores AIs Can be read by a device to speak with the AI inside Limitations: Limited in who deals in them Extremely morally questionable, since you're essentially using a trapped AI for currency. How does it work: As stated above, a simple and small storage device coated in cerullium allows an AI to be transcripted to it during its creation, tying an AI to that specific coin. Flavor text: Used long ago and still used today within the Undercrypt, Soul Coins symbolize the morbid death culture of the Undercrypt by essentially using the minds of the dead as a form of high-value currency. Many dealers in the Undercrypt sell high-value and unique goods in exchange for Soul Coins, which are also often hoarded by many high figures of the Undercrypt. A good number of Soul Coins are in existence and more are being produced as more and more bodies are dumped into the Soul Mills.
