Name: Pulchra - Phalaenopsis vitreus Description: An orchid-like plant where the blossom is a sugar crystal instead Behavior: The Pulchra doesn't do much, it's a plant. Tamability: It is a plant and can thus be harvested and bred however one pleases to. No taming needed. Where is it found?: Can only be found in caves or places devoid of other plants or species that could damage it. Typically at the entrance of caverns and within them Rarity: Because of the conditions required for it to thrive, very rare. They are mostly artificially introduced into an environment nowadays or bred commercially. One looking in the right places might find one sooner. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: The Pulchra gains nutrients the same way most other plants do, by photosynthesis. Instead of using its leaves for that, it has an unusual high amount of chloroplasts at the top of its stem where the crystal blossom sits. The crystal refracts the light so that it hits the stem. Instead of in their roots, the crystal is also made of sugar and providing the storage for it, covered by a thin layer of transparent cells to protect it and maintain it. Products?: The sugar crystal can be harvested from it. Its peculiar, natural form also makes it famous as decoration or gift. A Pulchra itself has a worth of about 100px on the common market. The crystals, if incubated to grow to enormous size, can be sold for a higher price usually to sculptors. Reproduction: The Pulchra reproduces asexually similar to how mushrooms do by expanding its roots either through the soil if it allows it or even over the ground Size: The size of an average orchid, about 30cm in height at best. Weight: Typically very light, but the crystal can grow to enormous size in a proper environment and weigh it down. Lifespan: As long as it can sustain itself, forever. Abilities: One peculiar ability of the Pulchra is that in its net of roots, all plants communicate with another and align their crystals so even those that are deep within the cave get some light refracted to them. This leads to entire caverns shining from the lightshow they provide. Flaws: It is overall a very fragile plant. It can barely, if at all, grow in environments where there are other animals that would feast on it or other plants that would overgrow it and choke it out. Other: I had a doc written up which might explain all of this a little better here
