Spoiler: Nanoweave MK.I Name: Nanoweave Mesh MK.I Description: It appears to be a tightly woven synthetic fabric, somewhere between polyester and nylon, with padded or plated areas looking more like kevlar. History of Aug/Tech: This form of body armor was originally planned to be created to assist the final and perfected forms of the SAOD Synths such as Vermilion by Dr. Montag, though it had never been fully realized due to the untimely end of his synth project due to their escapes from his lab. His research notes had been later published into journals, which had found their way into a few libraries dotting the stars. One such copy of these research notes was eventually discovered by the Synth Vermilion Verticus, allowing him to realize several of the planned inventions and creations of Montag, including the Nanoweave Protective Mesh. How does it work?: Utilizing a carefully crafted series of nanomaterials meshed throughout a flexible and durable base, the nano-weave created as a result is remarkably protective for the amount of agility it still offers to the user. Though one of the most remarkable features of the suits are that along some parts such as tail-coats or larger sleeves, there was an addition of reactive nanotechnology into the fabric, giving it an almost non-Newtonian sort of reaction in that the portion can be solidified to offer increased resistance to the wearer almost like a form of shield that can be temporarily thrown up in front of it, these are usually controlled via soft-neural links that allow them to operate as if they are another limb on the wearer's body. Abilities: Slightly superior to Kevlar in its ability to stop blunt stabbing/slashing attacks Light and flexible due to its form-fitting nature Rated to an NIJ Level II ballistic protection (up to .22mm long) Thin strips of the material can flex and move using the nanotechnology within the material, moving almost like a muscle. Keeps the wearer warm when it's cold, and cool when it's hot Can slowly self-repair damage to the material over time (( Source )) Limitations: Areas without added padding, such as joints and the underarm by the shoulder are more liable to be pierced by firearms Doesn't provide ample laser or plasma protection The nanotech in some parts of the armor can be disabled by emp, and requires re-calibration to work again. Calibers that exceed the protection level given by a NIJ II protection level will pierce most of the time, exponentially increasing in chance as the caliber grows. Damaged sections of the nanoweave lose the capacity to be freely flexed and controlled until repaired. Attainability: [Semi-Closed], Currently the only groups with information on this material are New Templacia and the Atlas Empire. To get it, you have to get it through them. How does it work?: Just as the original used a base fabric with nanomaterials weaved throughout it, this model follows the same base idea, but improved to fit the needs of the GMFC's active forces in the hectic nature of the Fringe. Said added upgrades were a reinforcement of the nanomaterials, and an upgrade to the base macro materials, such as an increased tensile strength and the addition of Aegean-carbide fibers along padded areas. Flavor Text: After the creation of the original nanoweave mesh by Vermilion, the journal containing the blueprints of the tech, along with many others was given to Nemo. The nanoweave was ignored for this time, until the siege of Nemo's ship by the Puppeteer. The Puppeteer worked a Mk I Mesh into its makeup, but it achieved this upgrade upon the recapture of the ship by Shep Caspan, in which he saved the projects and technology of Nemo's including the journal. Said nanoweave was cataloged along with the other projects, and later improved upon by his own engineering team using other acquired and experimental tech. Abilities: All strengths of the original nanoweave. Increased ballistic and stab resistance from the previous model, now a Nano-Reactive Soft NIJ III+ Equivalent Thermal resistance, keeps a person at a healthy core temperature in 110° down to -60° F surroundings Specific models can allow for moderate biometric readings in armors made from the material, especially if the suit is hooked up to a helmet with a VI capable of reading back biometric data. Weaknesses: All weaknesses of the original (minus the standards that were improved on, of course.) The added padding and fiber support removed some of the flexibility that the original suit had, leaving it a little more bulky and less form fitting to the user. EMPs can take out the Biometrics Attainability: [Semi-Closed], available to certain former-GMFC personnel and New Templacia soldiers and officials. Flavor Text: With the GMFC's acquisitions of advanced technology and work-power (see: Godus/Emissary events), a project was funded to upgrade the nano-mesh weave to a suit that would fit the standards of the highest personnel levels of the GMFC, such as High Commander Alpha Pri. How does it work?: Just as the prior two apps functioned, the general idea is a base suit reinforced with nanomaterials and other powerful fiber mixtures, nanomachines set on certain portions to create a non-Newtonian like reaction that allows for them to harden reactively and provide temporary increased resistance. Said nanomaterials were upgraded to a super-advanced level of complexity, and the padding materials were given increased reinforcement with more durable Biometrics sensors were upgraded to give a full readout of the body's actions, able to be acted on by VI to call for medical assistance or otherwise support the person inside with small doses of pain medication and stims. Laser resistance was increased through the addition of several faceted and highly polished plates along the chest in several points, the shoulders, and sides. Finally, the addition of light synthetic musculature increases the natural hitting power and speed by a slight increment. Intended use: A suit of combat armor that could sufficiently defend the Expedition Leaders of the GMFC from possible threats in said missions, upgraded from an early technology acquired. Abilities: Strengths of the previous Mks Increased to a NIJ IV ballistic protective rating Boost to biometric scanners, able to provide minimal emergency medical attention Reflective faceted points offer increased laser resistance, minimizing damage from said offense when striking said hard-points Effectively a low/zero atmospheric suit when combined with a proper helmet Limitations: All weaknesses of prior models beyond what had been upgraded Material swaps and upgrades cause the suit to be stiffer and less flexible. Laser/Energy resistant hard-points easily shatter under ballistic stress Attainability: [Semi-Closed], Only available to the highest ranking former officers of the GMFC and elite members of New Templacian government.
