Personality: A troubled being, who is still largely mentally scarred from not only her experience as a slave for most of her life but from the untimely destruction of her new home too. This emotional scarring has formed the fenerox into a quiet and closed-off being who unfortunately cannot carry out most of verbal communication, developing selective mutism out of her nearly lifelong trauma. On a happier note, Nalya happens to be an appreciator of the arts, finding her passions within traditional drawing and painting, with a hint of music to the side. Despite her apparent demons, Nalya can be described as positive and friendly within her small social circle and is known to be within a support group for others who unfortunately possess selective mutism as a further eagerness to build herself up more and form networks. General Memory: Nalya is capable of holding memory well enough, as evident by her inner demons. Dislikes: Many things fall under a more disliked image by the fenerox. Many social situations requiring input obviously take first prize in the list and things that would trigger memories of horrid time fight for the spot too. Overly social people easily make Nalya put-off, as her condition often hinders her ability to respond, making them often feel the same way in response to her lack of words. Knowing her trauma, she dislikes those who hurl empathy at her endlessly, finding she doesn’t need it. This eye is upon the right side, replacing the biological one that was once there. This cybernetic eye sits within a modified socket, allowing it to be easily removed for charging. This socket also interfaces wirelessly with a handy scouter, with a small holographic emitter to display small images which correspond to her ability to converse nonverbally due to her selective mutism. Training: N/A Backstory and More Spoiler On-going Story: Nalya currently works to her goals of bettering herself as a digital painter and artist, while working through her selective mutism and fully overcoming her mental barriers. Backstory: Nalya began her life within one of the many tribal fenerox communities, in the numerous savannahs of the cosmos. Sadly, Nalya’s memories of this period remain in a negligent amount, the strongest being of these is when the worst of sentient life had to offer came to her tribe, inhumanely ripping the small child and some others of her village away from her peaceful home. These figures turned out to be slavers, who disgracefully viewed the fenerox as a source of cheap and workable labour, working off theories with the past of the fenerox being produced for slavery, under the eyes of the Greys. Nalya and was herded like cattle after this period with other kidnapped beings for sale through trafficking. Hard labor tasks faced the young fenerox, with any attempt at verbal and physical resistance resulting in physical abuse. She quickly learned that speaking would result in circumstances not key to her wellbeing, something that someone who is only half of a decade old should not learn, forming the basis of her selective mutism and flawed language development. Growing over the next few years, aging into teenhood, Nalya experienced even more harsh labor put on her and her enslaved peers. She would be traded on the market, seeing a new planet every so often, finding it one of the ‘perks’ to experiencing this life. Nalya was known to be rather silent to her slave drivers and performed her duties with a seemingly refusal-less demeanor. Nalya was hiding great pai, and was often lonely with her mutism not gaining her many friends in her enslavement, due to her inability to speak. During this period, she had picked up a new interest in drawing, one of her only provided sources of things to do when not working. Her skill was not too great, but she continued on with the craft when she could. Growing into her later teens, Nalya had a mental snap, building up over time. Holding a tool in her hands, she’d approach one of her watchers from behind, striking down upon their skull and sending him into unconsciousness. This alerted the rest, as she tried to flee to no avail. She would be eventually caught and dragged back to her holding cell and brutally beaten for her feat. A horrid eye-socket fracture and damages to the eye within this socket would prove gruesome and something she would inevitably live with for the time being. Though, unknown to her, the stresses of slavery would some come to an end. Through an undercover set-up, the slavery ring she was a part of was exposed in broad daylight. Woken to the sound of stray shouting one morning, she kept close to herself within the holding area in a state of dissociation. The familiar shouts of those who watch over her and the other slaves grew into further gunshots, and then silence. One would still shout, and sounded like they were being dragged away. A few moments later, and a new face would stand at Nalya’s cell, unlocking it and allowing her to step up. Nalya had no idea on how to process nor how to act of this moment, with further coax by this figure, she eventually stepped out. Nalya and her fellow slaves were lead to a strange new ship, with Nalya herself being checked over by medical personnel. This ship was unlike anything she ever saw, it made her uneasy and scared, a truly learned reaction. Nalya soon touched down upon a planet of unknown location, with her directly being relocated to a strange and foreign building. She and her fellow slaves had been flown to the planet of Melkanian Eclipse V, with Nalya and a few others being taken directly to its esteemed hospital for treatment. Nalya’s long-existing eye and socket injury had grown infected, in which the eye was not able to be saved and unfortunately was removed during her treatment. Post-operation in her recovery period, Nalya was visited by yet another new figure. It was a decently aged male hylotl in a white jacket and similar pants. He approached the bed-ridden fenerox, asking her a series of questions which she could barely understand. He had tried to ask her general questions of who she was, to which gained nothing from the girl beside a silent single-eye stare, displaying her trauma in a way of silence. The friendly Hylotl figure tried once again, to which Nalya responded in a slight nod here and there. She was indeed capable of understanding some of his words, but not all. Over the next few months, Nalya was placed under care within a special facility for people of her circumstances. Despite not being able to build a full background on Nalya prior to enslavement, they determined her mental profile over time through gathered speech she did display, and mannerisms. Her lack of speech was not due to physical injury her carers found, but more or so a chronic form of selective mutism, with her general method of communication encompassing her own set of gestures. Another month or two would pass, and she was soon fitted with a cybernetic socket and eye, which said eye was designed to be easily removable for charging periods. To further her language development through Galactic Common and Universal Sign Language, Nalya was given a scouter with a holographic emitter built-in. This emitter functions through gathered thoughts of conveyed symbols, displaying said symbols in communication with others. Nalya was soon placed under the foster care of her closest social worker, who herself has experience with children. From this good connection, Nalya would flourish within her new settled home. She would develop a quick relationship with her adoptive brother from this. Over the next few years, Nalya’s skills in language grew phenomenally, she became decently confident in her skills in galactic common and her sign language. Her reading and writing skills caught up over time as well, through her provided AI companion she was gifted. Having settled time outside of scheduled education, Nalya had revived her interest in drawing, ever studying within that hobby too during this time. To further this hobby, she was enrolled in Nexus-based art programs and had spent time with a respected artist to ‘learn the ropes’ of differentiating techniques within the practice. Over a period of a good few years, Nalya has grown from a fully grief-stricken being into a much more positive aspect of her society. She developed connections with a select few people and conversed over messages within online mutism boards. Despite her positive achievements moving forward, the destruction of Melkanian Eclipse V occurred. It happened to be any other day at the academy in the year 3283, when the loud alarms blared loudly down her ears. A great panic swept her class as they were swiftly organised to follow emergency protocols. This would trigger a dissociative attack within the fenerox, with her managing to fight through it and get to safety. Leaving school, Nalya eventually made it back to her family in one piece, departing the planet soon after. She was grateful that her adoptive family survived. Having lived through a stressful survival of this event, Nalya’s family did what they did to keep eachother happy. Nalya’s own mental state may have regressed slightly, she did well to cope better using taught methods. After several months of settling into a new home, Nalya would settle into a job within an arts and crafts store, helping with smaller tasks. Saving money while using an amount already gathered, Nalya would purchase her own spacecraft with the help of her adoptive mother, still owning this ship and working within the store to this day. Having these within her life, she has worked further to develop her artistic talents, and began taking online commissions for art pieces continuing to the present as a new and free being, shaken free of her trapped past.
