    Name:

Naian Ballistic Hardlight Technology. Or commonly referred to as NBHT.

    Description:

An NBHT setup can be compared to that of a railgun or coilgun, and they both do work on the same base principle. They both have a magnetic projectile (known as a hardlight bolt) and a magnetic rail. Now whenever a weapon is using an NBHT setup it is usually forced to be quite long, making it difficult to conceal.

As for the projectile itself it is about as simple as it gets. It's quite literally a magnetic disc of varying size. What gives the NBHT it's name is what the setup places around said disc, a casing of tough hardlight. Sometimes the disc comes with small tech pieces installed designed to shatter the hardlight casing into sharp shards, others have explosive, plasma based or EMP payloads equipped and others have small engines and heat seeking or laser guidance systems.

Standard naian made NBHT weaponry is usually formed out of a casing of polymer, with metal kept to a minimum as to keep the weight down. Because of this, naian NBHT weapons are a large portion air and hollow.

To accomodate for the naians strange hands, they usually have a grip designed in a similar way to a gas station nozzle, as their hands are big and clumsy.

    Abilities:

-Is very open to customisation, allowing someone to make almost whatever weapon they wish.

-Are cheap to produce and fire.

-Are usually much silenter than most conventional firearms.

-For the most part they are lighter than most conventional firearms. (Although this depends on how it has been made.)

    Conditional Abilities:

-Depending on how the setup is tweaked the result can either be a large siege weapon or a subtle assassination tool.

    Limitations:

-EMPs mostly ruin the NBHT setup by disabling the rail and draining power from the setup.

-Due to the size requirement weapons may be either more difficult to conceal or take longer to reassemble.

    -Projectiles glow brightly.

-Due to the fragile nature of the projectile it has a tough time penetrating body armour that is not medium-light. Anything above this will cause it to shatter with laughable damage inflicted.

    Conditional Limitations:

-Without thrusters the effective range of a projectile is fairly low.

-Projectiles are very fragile, and thus cannot cause much collateral damage on their own.

    How does it work?:

The weapon uses two ammo types. The magnetic discs, tasked with being the base of the bolt, along with holding whatever attachment or payload necessary, and the tightly packed crystalline silicon carbide hardlight, or faux hardlight, sprinkled with some sort of ferromagnetic metal, such as iron.

When activated the gun will, using between four and eight separate hardlight projectors, begin rapidly producing a backlog of prepared bolts. As this happens, the guns rail will then have to be powered up. This is usually done by pulling back a lever present on the side of the contraption. When pulled back it'll start generating a bit of electricity to power the magnetic rails. This charge will slowly die down, and roughly every thirty seconds to a minute the rail will have to be recharged. In certain larger weapons this process will have to be repeated several times, in a form of pumping maneuver. Upon reload it's common practice to recharge the rails.

The magnetic bolts by standard always feature a small battery and an electromagnet. This battery also powers the surrounding hardlight in order to keep glowing. This electromagnet is however probably the most important part, as it allows the bullet to tug down on the faux hardlight around it, thus making it dense and tough, and that, combined with the sharp tip, is what offers the bullet such a surprisingly strong ballistic power compared to other hardlight contraptions.

    Flavor Text:

Originally developed by the naians during one of their biggest wars. At this time, countries on Nivasa had began establishing colonies all over Atriga. The technology had been created by the biggest and most advanced country at the time, and, although proven weak in individual battles, on the bigger picture the technology destroyed all opposition. Not out of raw power, but flexibility. These weapons could do anything from covert operations to weapons of mass destruction. There are three classes of weapons utilizing this technology.

Low-grades: Low-grades are small weapons, usually no larger than a pistol (however there are a few rifle versions). Low-grades are most common within civilian law enforcement.

Assault-grades: Assault-grades are a far larger variant, and is the one class with the most weapons available. Assault grades are used predominantly within military purposes.

Boltcasters: Boltcasters are the powerhouse of the naian ballistic hardlight weapon arsenal. Large, heavy duty and with extensive ammunition drums, these can fire off much stronger bolts faster than any other class of weapon. Although they're rarely used in normal combat, they are frequently mounted on vehicles such as starfighters and tanks.

The following are some of the most common weapons which can still be found in production to this day.

Vinn-14: Vinn-14s (Or just Vinns) are common weapons within law enforcement. Named after Eli-Vinn, their creator, Vinns are cheap, effective and easy to maintain. Their range and power is however very subpar. Vinns, unlike most weapons, lack a lever to pull back in order to charge the rails. Instead, on the left side, it features a crank which has to be spun around five laps.

Tracker GL-7: Trackers as they're often known are a common weapon within the naian military armouries. The trackers feature a small magazine underneath the rail which can fire out small "probes”. These probes can latch onto any target and provide a laser based tether. This allows bolts fired from the rifle to track their target.

Firestorm N-2: Firestorms are a newer class of boltcasters. Firestorms usually fire larger sabot projectiles, armed with large explosive payloads. This is what earns their name as they can, within seconds, coat an entire area in explosive rounds, just waiting to be detonated. A single firestorm boltcaster can fire upwards of two hundred and fifty projectiles out of one drum.

    Faux Hardlight

Attainability: Semi-Closed (Open for naians, other races will have to gain it through ic means)
