    Name: Magma Crabs [Ignis convexus]

    Description:

Magma Crabs are essentially crabs that inhabit hot, lava-filled areas such as volcanoes or deep caverns deep in planetary mantles; they have large eyes coated in a hard organic glass with a sharp mouth similar to a snapping turtle (but with a lot more force). Their legs and claws are plated in a strong and thick heat-resistant chitin that is difficult to pierce. Their most prominent section is their large shell which grows naturally throughout their life, the shell itself made of some type of hard rock mixed in with black metals such as iron. The shell is reddened from heat and sometimes fumes out in molten stone or sulfuric gases.

One of their most unique abilities is to harness magma to their advantage, absorbing metallic minerals from the magma around them and even being able to spit it out through hardened channels within their bodies. Within the core of the shell is a Scorched Core, a hard rock-like biological organ that can maintain body temperatures to near stone melting points. They are also silica based lifeforms, owing to their ability to withstand immense heat.

    Behavior:
Magma Crabs are typically neutral as simple animals, swimming around lava pools or walking along their shores. However, they won't hesitate to attack anyone coming into its territory, especially where their eggs are.

    Tamability:
Magma Crabs make great pets for those who enjoy magma and live in very hot places, and can be domesticated from an egg as such.

    Where is it found?:
Magma Crabs are found in very hot places filled with magma or lava, such as volcanoes, magma pipes, magma lakes, oceans, and more.

    Rarity:
    Common

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy:
Magma Crabs use their body's magma to break down tough substances for energy, using their lava spit, claws, and sharp jaws to hunt down prey and consume it.

    Products?:
Shells and Scorched Cores. And delicious crab meat.

    Reproduction:
Sexual - Magma Crabs will mate with each other and the female will lay up to 3 eggs in a spot usually at the bottom of a magma lake, thick chitin eggs that will hatch in three months into a young Magma Crabling. These will grow over the course of about 5 years into then a full-sized Magma Crab.

    Size:
Gender dependent; male Magma Crabs are much larger than females, being around the size of a small boulder, while females can grow to be around a large rock. This isn't to say that outliers exist, as the largest Magma Crab has been recorded to be nearly half the size of a dumpster.

    Weight:
Typically very heavy due to their thick chitin and especially, their shells.

    Lifespan:
    ~60 Years

    Abilities:
Can spit out magma at a high speed (.5 L at a time, holds 5 L)
    Sharp claws with strong grip
    Sharp jaws

    Flaws:
Cryoweapons can freeze its magma, and in excess, lower the body temperature enough out of its survivable range. This kills the crab.
Heavy on its back and fairly slow moving.
