I, among others I assume, attempted to decrypt the signal. We found the origin to be from the Sol system on Earth, and they structurally resembled nuclear launch codes. I think the "ruin" figured out how to broadcast these codes to get curious inhabitants of other planets to decrypt these codes for it so it could escape containment and destroy Mars.
