Name: Hypergates Description: Like Projected Portals or Framed Portals, Hypergates are essentially the same technology but with differing destination; one deals with spatial transportation in the same plane, while Hypergates are portals that instead lead into Hyperspace from Realspace; for the most part they can appear the same. Abilities: Same as other portals, but with Hyperspace access only. Limitations: Same as other portals. Hyperspace portals can only lead to Hyperspace, not another portal in Realspace. Can only be open for half the time of a projected realspace portal. How does it work: By using a different construction in the portal frame or portal projector, a Portal can be created to access Hyperspace, bypassing the initial velocity needed to enter it using a Hyperspace drive in a starship. The Framed or Projected Hypergate (or Hyperportal) substitutes much of the spatial energy with negative energy that allows interaction with Hyperspace, using it with the altering gravitic energy to essentially reroute the portal into a subdimension instead. They are more difficult to construct due to the required manipulation of negative energy. The area the portal opens at essentially becomes an opening for Hyperspace, a dimensional doorway between the two dimensions that is meant to act permanent instead of simple point-to-point warp systems that Hyperspace drives. Thus, a large Hypergate active in an area for a long time has been known to cause the surrounding Realspace area to experience interesting physics or even the presence of Interloper organisms from Hyperspace. Most Framed Hyperportals instead use the frame as a particle accelerator for a small amount of erchius fuel that acts similar to how a Hyperdrive would. Flavor text: The first Hypergate seen in the Milky Way Galaxy was actually in Hyperspace itself, a large invention constructed throughout ages of work by Electria Firstborn in order to venture into an entirely new realm of space due to the appearance of mysterious 'garbled eldritch messages' that were actually tachyons from Realspace interacting with their home dimension. Hypergates have then seen use by other races and factions such recently the Miniknog, and have also been found to be much much older as a result of Ancient technology or Thaniik technology brought from Andromeda. Hypergates can be seen sometimes in areas that require easier access to Hyperspace via small vehicle or even by foot.
