Name: Hydroplating, Hydrophobic Cerullium, Hydrollium Description: Hydroplating is a technique of plating an object with a special alloy of Cerullium known as 'Hydrollium' in order to allow it to pass through liquid water with relative ease by forcing water away from it, essentially creating a shielding of air that it can pass through easier. Hydroplating most often appears blue in color and is used to plate Hylotl spacecraft so that they may easily enter the water with speed, though it is sometimes plated on other things such as swords or underwater missiles. Hydrollium requires a weak electric charge to work. Abilities: Repels water which allows an object or vehicle that the Hydrollium is plated on to pass through water easier as if it was similar to air, by eliminating friction with a vacuum barrier created by the repelling. Limitations: Requires a weak electric charge to be conducted through the metal in order to repel water. Will reduce effectiveness if damaged. How does it work: Hydrollium is an alloy of cerullium created by flash heating cerullium mixed in with pulverized Karonium crystals, resulting in a deep bluer alloy that acts similar to the original metal itself but slightly weaker. The resulting metal, when conducted with an electric charge, will excite the Karonium crystal pattern locked in the cerullium metal, which will cause it to repel the polar sides of water molecules to create a vacuum space between the object and water which allows it to streamline through water easier. Hydrollium is almost always plated on a spacecraft, and typically never used to constitute the majority of the hull. Flavor text: Hydroplating is a technique invented by Hylotl engineers when they first migrated into Axolotia, the technology allowing Hylotl ships to easily pass through the enormous ocean that their cities are often stationed in. Hydroplating can be found on most Hylotl ships, with the technology being kept to the race itself due to the fear of outside attack using their own technology.
