//A recently published article by the Haven Times would be circulating across the Nexus// //HAVEN FIRST INSPIRES SENATE ACTION, NEW DIPLOMATIC FUTURE FOR FEDERATION?// It's been a busy week in the Federation as of recent, ever since the disruption at the Haven Founding Festival by the fledgling nationalist political movement "Haven First", who demanded that the Senate take action in resolving their qualms with the direction of Haven following the repeal of the Radec Isolation Act earlier this year. Protesters at the event took to the stage reserved for speakers, preventing the planned proceedings for around an hour before eventually dispersing, during which time Senator Sinji Ekta was hospitalized for a ruptured eardrum, obtained when former High Guardian and temporary Grand Protector Avery Weiss shouted through a megaphone directly into the Senator's ear. Whether or not charges of assault will be pressed against Weiss is not known at this time. Eyewitnesses report that shortly before the group broke up and left the stage, an exchange of words was held between Haven Expeditionary Force Captain Surge, Senators David Ward and Martinez Roy Jackson, and a man who seemed to act as the mouthpiece for the group's concerns, who identified himself as a "Chad Rindfleisch". One noteworthy incident during this exchange would seem to be the reports that Senator Ward sympathized with the ideals of the group, even telling Surge to back down as an argument broke out between the Captain and the protest leader. Following the protest's end, Senator Jackson took to the stage, providing an improvised speech in the stead of Senator Ekta. Transcript below: *Included in the transcript was a copy of the feed that Martinez presented during his speech. It seemed to be a stream from a drone that was positioned in orbit of the moon of Haven. Shown was a large swathe of ships, corvettes, frigates, cruisers, even a battleship was among them. This was the fleet of Haven. Their designs were diverse, but each one shared one thing, a gold and white paintjob that clearly identified them as being of the Federation's might.* And it seems that the Senate has indeed been keeping to their promise of sweeping reform and change for the Federation, as in the matter of a short week, several bills have been submitted to the docket and passed, including the slightly controversial new Haven Border Act, which includes massive reform to the immigration system for the Federation and a new set of restrictions and regulations for those planning on running for office. Most controversial of all, however, is the dissolution of the Dmmareh Financial office in Haven City and the repatriation of all its assets, as well as the barring of immigration to the Federation by any citizen of the Islamic Caliphate or the Ascended Empire, and the ban for entry into Haven Space on Caliphate political figures Ahsanullah al-Saqqaf, and Saif Cassio, the latter being sentenced to execution if he is ever captured by the Federation. Also banned was Zel'nara al-Quiche, wife of the Caliph Syed and member of the Ascended Empire, who were responsible for the invasion and temporary occupation of the Yggdrasil district, where they defaced the world tree with several months of extraction of its bark and fluids. Also recently passed in the Senate was HS.204, the Corravian Rejuvenation Act of 3284, a bill which contained an outlined plan for the reconstruction of various sectors of the fallen Corrav District, a project which will include assistance from both Solus Industries and the Iconian Collective, as part of the recent cooperation between the two states. With the addition of the Silentia system and the expansion of the Haven Fleet's patrol zone to the edges of the Haven solar system, it seems as though this is going to be a new era for Haven expansion and development.
// User Sinji posts a reply. // I, and many others, are deeply disappointed in the leadership of the Haven First political party. Avery Weiss and other members of the Haven First party harassed me vocally with racial slurs and assumptions on my actions within the Senate, aside from hospitalizing me with their leader's sheer arrogance to get their word heard by the Senate; for the first time ever. When a citizen has an issue, he or she may easily contact the Senate by means of call, message, or meeting. Haven First's first call was not a polite call asking us on our positions, but rather a call from a megaphone that ruptured my sensitive Rantori eardrum in the middle of my explanations, preventing me from continuing my speech on our Founding Day. If you are a conscientious voter, consider the character of those whom you vote for. This is a democracy. If you desire to vote for one who is arrogant, racist, rash, and irrational, that is your decision. I implore you, however, to vote for this Federation's future, not for those that would rather see it brought to ruin more than those they reject. That is all. As for Avery Weiss' case of assault, that is felony offense not in my jurisdiction to determine. Should she be tried and found guilty, however, our current laws and the platform of her own party dictate that she will not be eligible for senatorial office due to the felony being on her record. - Senator Sinji Ekta
