Name: Hadium Description: Hadium is a very rare violet metal with a pearlescent sheen. It is notable for its very low weight in comparison to its mass, caused by its innate anti-gravitational properties, and its incredibly value as a commodity. It does not tarnish and is slightly warm to the touch. Abilities: Anti-Gravity: Hadium has the unique property of being barely affected by gravity; always decreasing its gravity by a factor of five (.2g in a 1g environment, .4g in a 2g environment, etc). This allows it to effectively make things it is attached to weigh less than they actually are and while inadvisable due to its rarity, alloys created with Hadium as a component are lighter by a noticeable degree. Conditional Abilities: Electrical Inversion: When exposed to a live electrical current, the anti-gravity property of Hadium is inverted, instead increasing its gravity by a factor of five (5g in a 1g environment, 10g in a 2g environment, etc). Mundane Nature: Hadium is not anomalous in any way, leading it to operate normally under the effects of Order. Mind Over Matter: Aetherium created with Hadium has the unique property of requiring no Flux to lift, manipulate, or mold with telekinesis, regardless of its total weight. Quantity: Hadium's anti-gravity properties increase in potency the more of it is gathered in one place- to the point that if present in significant amounts, it begins to affect the surrounding area. Limitations: Soft: Hadium is incredibly soft and malleable, making it a poor material for armor or weaponry. Quantity: Hadium cannot meaningfully affect other things with its anti-gravity properties unless the total mass of Hadium is equal to a third of the mass of the thing it is connected to. Conditional Limitations: Rarity: Hadium is very rare compared to other metals, only forming on certain planets under set conditions. Its acquisition is further hampered by the fact it is located deep within the mantle, leading to finding it more up to luck or discovering a deposit forced closer to the surface by ancient geological activity. Cost: Because of its rarity- and by extension, its value as a commodity- even a single ounce of Hadium will cost a buyer 12,000▣ at market price; and rarely is it sold at such by those who have it. Conductive: Another reason Hadium makes a poor armor material is its high electrical conductivity, which would cause any wearers to suffer severe injury from even a low-level shock weapon. How does it work: Hadium has the unique property of being naturally repellent to gravitons, giving it extremely low weight and anti-gravitational properties. This effect doesn't seem to be anomalous in the typical sense, and has been compared to Ferozium's ability to resist changes in temperature. Flavor text: Hadium is a precious stellar metal with the unique property of repelling gravitons, reducing the gravity affecting it by a factor of five. Due to this, it consistently has a lower weight than its mass or density would imply. This effect is reversed when an electrical charge is put through it, instead attracting an unusually large number of gravitons and becoming five times heavier. This effect gets stronger around large quantities of Hadium, as their collective power disperses gravitons away from a wider area. Particularly large quantities alter the local gravity in an area around them, in addition to their own gravity. While these properties are useful, Hadium's rarity and the advent of the anti-gravity drive has largely invalidated any technological use for the material. Instead, it is currently valued for both its beauty and its scarcity, being valued at around 12,000▣ per ounce and 5,268,000▣ per ingot. This assumed value was first started by the Hylotl; as Hadium forms only under warm oceans within nebulas, it is native to Kaiimaigoki. It was originally valued for its abilities, but has since become a sought-after reminder of their heritage following Kaiimaigoki's capture by the Florans. In Floran cultures, it has become a symbol of pride among their warrior class. The physical properties of Hadum poor choice for armor; it is soft enough to bend with your hands, has durability only slightly better than Ferozium, and conducts heat and electricity very well. It is possible to create alloys of Hadium, which typically come out worse physically for its addition, but gain its unique properties. For this to work, the mixture must be at least one-third Hadium. Some ancient Hylotian war clubs utilize an Hadium core and a rudimentary battery to create a weapon that is easy to swing but very hard hitting. Such weapons required continual maintenance, as the soft metal would often unbalance the weapon over several strikes. Some early Hylotian ships, and very few modern Floran ships, utilize Hadium in small part to achieve artificial gravity. A few of these crafts were deployed during the First Galactic War, and rumors of their existence are often sought after by pirates. Several older species, most notably the Xinod, were aware of and valued Hadium as a novelty. Many former Xinoddus colonies are decorated with Hadium sculptures and decorations, which still have not tarnished. There are even some fleeting theories that the modern, violet mutation of Xinod are due to Hadium poisoning following the war that destroyed their empire. Attainability: Open (Hadium is a very rare material, only found deep within the mantle of some warm, oceanic planets found inside of nebulae. This makes it incredibly hard to access or find without heavy infrastructure, and typically any located deposits of it were forced to the surface long ago.)
