Name: Glitch Fauna (General) Various names for specific fauna. Examples include Chippen/Chalybeius pullum and Softmares(female) or Station(male), Horstead/Metallum equites Description: Much like their organic counterpart, save for being made of the materials that Glitch are made from. Durable plastics and light metals such as aluminum, beryllium, and magnesium are common in smaller Glitch Fauna, though larger creatures such as horses and bulls may be made of steel or durasteel, silver, titanium, tungsten, or other heavy metals. Any Glitch Fauna can have bronze, or very rarely precious metals, decorating them. They can appear colorized, achieved by electroplating most often. Pictured: A Glitch Doomlord rides into battle on a glorious Station, decorated in robes and armor. Behavior: Typically mimics the behavior patterns of whatever organic species they are emulating. The SI within them is incapable of sapience, but if someone was twisted enough, they could put a sapient AI or SI within the chassis. Tamability: Depends on the species being mimicked. Most Glitch Fauna mimic beasts of burden or other farm animals, so easily tamable given that the person understands basic animal husbandry. Where is it found?: Most often found near Glitch Settlements, but they can be found most anywhere because of traders buying and selling them. Rarity: Common near Glitch settlements, uncommon otherwise. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Much like with Glitch, Glitch Fauna have a battery which is similar in placement to the spine in organics, and this battery can be recharged either though direct recharging, or through the intake of suitable material which can be broken down in the chemical engine in their stomach. Since they simulate organic life, their preferred diet mirrors that of whatever they mimic based on their SI's instructions. Chippens are omnivores which typically eat vegetation, insects, and seeds; Horstead are grazing herbivores. Products?: Glitch Fauna meant to replicate farm animals are typically capable of giving some kind of product. Chippen can produce "eggs" through a device which synthesizes the various organic compounds within an egg either in calcium carbonate or very thin metal crystal deposits. These materials are gotten from food ingested by the Chippen. A mimic cow can synthesize milk by creating lactose and other chemicals within milk, or could even synthesize ethanol fuels through the breakdown of starches and the facilitation of chemical conversion to ethanol. Etc and etc. Otherwise, one could take the metals, plastics, and electronics from their body as salvage. Reproduction: Glitch Fauna are built, like with Glitch Units themselves, but they typically are built to have a sexual dimorphism mimicking that of their organic counterpart for the sake of removing possible variables in the simulations. Size: Varies depending on the species in question. Small fauna can be the size of dormice, while large fauna can be as big as elephants and even larger. Weight: Varies, small fauna can be around 8 to 15 ounces, while large fauna can be thousands of pounds due to the metals they are made from. Lifespan: Typically, the battery of a Glitch Fauna can last within the range of 5 to 75 years. This can be made indefinite with repair, however, and the problems associated with insanity from decay of the SI over time aren't as prevalent with Glitch Fauna as they do not store as much information as often. Abilities: Varies. Chippen can produce synthetic eggs, their metal claws can be used to scratch quite effectively, and they can deliver a bad peck with their metallic beaks. Horstead can trample someone quite easily, as they can weigh over 1500 lbs, and make excellent beasts of burden for old-fashioned farming. Flaws: Varies. SI isn't made capable of sapient thought like Glitch SI are. Some may not be as resistant to long-term water exposure. Smaller units are generally dispatched quite easily. Powerful electric discharge can render a unit inactive until repaired as such.
