    The Past
    • ~1000 - A small band of precursors known only as the ‘Dread Lords’ arrived on the planet Oculus Psi 36. There, they took to the native life and forcefully uplifted them from the stone age. They grafted them with cybernetics, and taught them information well beyond their ken. From this event, we get the Eyeguard.
      • Though they scarcely come up again in the timeline, Eyeguard are one of the oldest known species to have capable FTL, proving themself to be a menace for many species in their early history, and even through to the modern day.
    • July 1947 - A Xinoddus craft crashes onto the soil of Roswell, New Mexico, killing its inhabitants.
    • September 11th, 2001 - The Twin Towers are not attacked.
    • 2490 - Requiring a substantial base of laborers for the continued growth of their civilization, the Xinod turned their sights on the Fenerox homeworld. Over the course of a single day, the Fenerox were conquered and enslaved.
    • 2769 - The earliest documentation of the Novakid Trade Alliance stretches back to this year. Due to their disorganization, it is not known when the alliance truly formed, however, the sources we do have treat Novakid having warpdrive technology as mundane at this point.
      • Notably, the majority of Novakid were already using prototypical bipedal shells during this time, such fact is reflected in the design of their early ships.
    • 2833 - Florans invade the Hylotl homeworld of Kaiimaigoki, forcing the native species to retreat to the oceanic world of Axolotia, and begin anew.
      • Some after settling Axolotia, the Hylotl turn their frustrations inward. They take control of a militarily powerful subspecies of their own; The Froggs. Through a combination of genetic tampering and breeding programs, they decrease the Frogg’s fertility, while heavy-handed laws forced onto the Froggs a culture of lethargy and philosophy, rather than violence.
    • 2890 - The last war of the Xinoddus comes to an end, settling them into a newfound era of peace that would last two hundred and twenty years.
    • 2950 - Humans begin early interstellar colonization efforts after discovering erchius in the proxima centauri system. This project fails to result in official first contact, but leads to many successful Human colonies across the galaxy.
      • Colonies known to be founded by this project include Purgatory, Schelor, and Haven.
    • 3000 - The first Dreadwing takes power within Penguin space, founding an impenetrable fleet and proving himself a terror to all other Penguin governance. Within his lifetime, he will become the leader of his species. This is a privilege he will pass down to his son.
    • 3090 - During Xinoddus colonization efforts near the galactic core, alien ruins are uncovered. These ancient aliens are said to have possessed exceptionally advanced technology, which the Xinod could not help but study.
    • 3103 - The Shifters make first contact with the Hylotl. Over the following century, they trade for- and later steal- advanced electronic technology from them.
    • 3110 - Corrupted by the influence of alien technology, a Xinod scientist named Vazkedar marched on his people’s capital, carried by an army of mutated and disfigured Xinods. These fighting-men seemed immune to all damage, and began a warpath that would decimate the long-lived Xinoddus Empire.
      • During this war, countless Fenerox soldier-serfs lost their lives, leaving the species’ remaining population equally split between those who worked for the elite, and were allowed to think, and those whose life was only blind obedience.
    • 3113 - Humanity forms the United World Government. The UWG was a brutal empire that sought to reunite Humanity under one flag, whether or not they wanted it. Shortly after, they formed the United Systems Colonial Marines, a military branch tasked with pacifying borderspace from independent agents and outlaws alike. Many penal colonies were made simply to hold the prisoners of this strategy.
    • 3110 - Facing a great disaster, the Grey break their pride and contact the Penguins. For a time, Penguins are used to fill out Xinoddus fleets, attempting to hold back their attackers.
    • 3114 - The last known Dreadwing perished.
    • 3130 - Vazkedar and his army, though still undefeated, vanish from the galaxy. The Xinoddus Empire crumbles into dust. The remaining vestiges of their government turn to the burgeoning galactic community. They immigrated to Penguin space, imparting their knowledge wherever they could.
    • 3133 - Official MiniKnog sources date the MiniKnog as having formed during or before this year, after a large-scale conflict on the Apex homeworld. Little information is known about this conflict. Sometime within or shortly after this year, the MiniKnog administered a formula meant to physically and mentally enhance their citizens at the cost of ‘slight evolutionary regression.’ No other information is known.
    • 3140 - Fyewyven, the first Greenlord of Florus, begins conquering the Floran Homeworld.
      • This year also marks the Penguin’s military renaissance. Thanks to the Grey, the Penguin became rapidly more advanced than their neighboring species, and began to form into one of the most threatening powers within the Galaxy.
    • 3150 - Humanity constructs its first tachyonic transmitter, allowing them to join the galactic community and make first contact with the Avosi Empire.
    • 3160 - Every tribe within twelve parsecs of Florus has been subjected under Fyewyven, ruling with strength and certainty.
    • July 16th, 3165 - ‘Demonstrations’ break out in an unknown, off-world MiniKnog colony. These demonstrations quickly evolve into rioting, and then full-scale rebellion. Several other colonies follow suit, leading to a civil war.
    • March 13th, 3180 - Almost every colony that had rebelled against the MiniKnog is victim to ‘tragic outbreaks of natural disease,’ leaving no survivors. The MiniKnog announced a time of peace and prosperity.
      • Despite this, some independent sources have claimed the rebellion is still extant at this time. None of these independent sources are alive the following year.
    • 3185-3189 - War arrives to Florus. The Axolotian Armada takes the Floran Empire by surprise. Their top-of-the-line warships were capable of decimating the at the time outdated Floran navy. Early battles were decisive, and by 3189, 40% of the Floran’s territory was captured by the Hylotl.
      • One major development by the Axolotian military was dubbed the ‘Black Miasma.’ Later called Black Blight, these destructive nanite swarms were capable of devouring any organic material in sight. This was used to great effect in the dense, lush environments of most Floran colonies.
    • 3190 - News of the Hylotl-Floran War reached other major powers, which quickly intervened to stop the wholesale conquering of the Florans. These third parties, consisting of most other major players in what would become Civilized Space, forced the Hylotl fleet to demilitarize. Kaiimaigoki was never retaken.
    • 3193 - In response to the destruction laid on their territory, Greenlord Fyewyven began a project to expand their borders through rapid colonization of what would become the Fringe, providing personal stimulus to whatever tribes could best output sprouts for this repopulation effort. This would greatly impact the Floran’s initial power by the time of the First Galactic War, putting them on par with other more technologically advanced enemies.
    The First Galactic War
    • 3211 - Following border conflicts, the Hylotl and the Florans begin attempts at colonizing neutral space in what will become the Fringe. The MiniKnog follow suit, then the Avians, and lastly the Humans. This ‘Rush for Fringespace’ is widely considered to be the start of the First Galactic War.
    • 3212-3218 - These years encapsulate the ‘hot war’ period of the conflict, wherein the most casualties occurred and most battles were fought in the scramble for habitable planets and resource-rich systems. Many colonies were built up and inhabited, only to be turned to ash shortly after by newly-researched WoMDs.
      • The Axolotian Armada takes an incredibly offensive role, crossing disjointed human borders into Floran-occupied Fringespace. They attempt a heavy-set plan of eugenics and ethnic cleansing, attempting to breed out positive features in the Floran population. At the same time, they also attempt homogenizing efforts among their own population, narrowing their originally broad genetic template to be predominantly amphibious- Despite originally containing sharks, fish, and to some extent, aquatic reptiles.
      • Little is documented about this period of indiscriminate war. Historians believe that many indigenous Fringe species- including possible sapients- were rendered extinct in the scramble for space. It is theorized that most remaining native species were either under the protectorate of a larger nation, or simply avoided being detected due to blind luck.
      • During this period of conflict, the Penguins rise to prominence as privateers and mercenaries with a home field advantage within Fringespace.
      • 3210 - A variety of the Shifter virus that can infect Hylotl cells is discovered. At the behest of Dictator Aliph’sa, the Shifter government begins abducting and infecting Hylotl colonists near Shifter territory. The Hylotls notice, but are too tied up in the war effort to retaliate.
    • 3219-3240 - The invention of new and more dangerous weapons of mass destruction rapidly cooled potential conflict. Anxious populations attempted to settle into newly-conquered territory, building lives for themselves with the threat of armageddon looming over their head.
      • 3221 - 187,000 Human colonists settle on a deep-Fringe moon. This Fringe Protectorate, as they declared themselves, established a demilitarized zone which would eventually become Haven.
      • 3231 - An unknown organic entity touches down on Earth in a meteorite and begins attempts to assimilate the planet into its mass. This significantly distracts the Humans from the war effort. They later dub this entity the ‘Ruin.’
      • 3232 - Floral settlers from the Concordat arrive to the planet Olympus, with protection of the USCM.
      • 3234 - Heavy drafting produces a peacefully-minded countercultural movement. The Axolotia Protests of 3234 gained the ear of the High Shōgun, protesting the hostile relations and atrocities done by their own government against others. The High Shōgun delivers a speech which proves popular among the older generations, but does not calm the youth.
      • Sources begin referring to unclaimed space as ‘Fringespace’ sometime around 3219, following an errant comment made by an Axolotian official about their borders being ‘The fringe of civilization and the border from barbarism.’
    • 3241-3242 - Tense peace was severed by a sudden and short-lived Agaran offensive. The devastation done to their war-fleets proved as a worrying example for the rest of the participants. Across the warring nations, protests for peace mounted in response, urging their governments to bring an end to the senseless violence, and start an era of cooperation.
      • September 18th, 3241 - The Apex utilized the newly-invented Hyperdrive in warfare for the first time, to astounding success. They fail to keep this technology a secret for long, resulting in large-scale adoption.
      • December, 3242 - Earth, the homeworld of humankind, is destroyed by the Ruin. This event significantly shakes the galactic stage, forcing even the most stubborn of cultures to agree to peace talks.
    • September 8th, 3243 - The First Galactic War comes to a close following several months of negotiation in the city-state of Niveus Aquatica. This Treaty of Niveus is responsible for the official formation of the United Coalition of Empires, which would later come to be known as ‘Civilized Space,’ as well as codifying the borders of The Fringe.
    The Newfound Fringe
    • 3244 - As part of the Treaty of Niveus, all U.C.E. constituents were forced to give up their remaining colonies in the newly-established neutral space. In the process, this gave rise to many early Fringe powers. In addition, the appeal of neutral space attracted both individuals and groups, especially those too unsavory to make a living in Civilized Space. This gave rise to what is sometimes referred to as an ‘age of outlaws,’ which many cite to still be ongoing.
      • After the destruction of Earth, a million refugees find their way to Haven, contributing to the formation of Rendera.
    • 3245 - Following the destruction of Earth, the United World Government could no longer hold power. In its place, the United Systems of Humanity formed, establishing a Constitution of Man, and a new capital in Proxima Centauri; Telluris Ancora.
      • Attempting to take advantage of the newfound neutrality, Umbral King Blackhelm amasses an empire of likeminded Glitch in an attempt to conquer the Fringe.
    • December 9th, 3246 - The Black Empire attacks Haven, killing 200,000 individuals before finally being made to retreat. Soon after, Haven elects its first Grand Protector.
    • July 7th, 3247 - The Novakid Trade Alliance is officially recognized as a member of the United Coalition of Empires.
    • 3249 - Councilman Leda Portia drafts the Haven constitution.
    • February 12th, 3251 - The Haven Federation officially closes its borders following worries of a second Black Empire attack.
    • 3275 - After being pushed out of the Fringe, Blackhelm retreats to a forgotten corner of space to begin amassing his second empire.
    • 3277 - A new Axolotian counter-culture begins to rise. They are destructive, militaristic, and discriminatory. They’re known to gather and disrupt protests, and hold support for prior Axolotian eugenics movements.
    The Player Era
    • August, 3281 - The United Soviet Socialist Systems declare war on the United Systems Colonial Marines.
    • November, 3281 - The USCM / USSS conflict comes to an end as the USCM ceases all Fringe operations. Shortly after, the USSS collapses under its own weight, splitting into many smaller states.
      • Taking advantage of this, Matthew Enfield, overseer of an Airborne USCM division, secedes and establishes a colony on the planet Olympus, and creates Atlas. Utilizing their wealth of equipment, Olympus became an early example of a militarized Fringe nation.
    • January, 3282 - Vago Kepp and Vitius arrives to the Fringe and begin operation; A gifted roboticist, they create the DRONE Technology corporation, aimed at bringing the Fringe’s automatons up to more modern standards.
    • February, 3282 - The Godus, a militarily powerful criminal family from Axolotian space, attempt a short-lived invasion of the Fringe. During this time, they attack, occupy, and eventually glass Margury, a prospering Fringe colony.
    • September, 3282 - DRONE Technology declares bankruptcy. Its former facilities are overtaken by a hivemind entity known as the Viti, which begins attempting conquest of the Fringe.
    • December, 3282 - The Galactic Market crashes, tanking the worth of the Pixel.
      • In response to this, chaos unfolds across Olympus, causing Atlas to retreat from the planet entirely.
    • December 29th, 3282 - The Godus exit the Fringe under mysterious circumstances, disappearing into intergalactic space.
    • March, 3283 - Skirmishes begin in CivSpace, civilians fear for a Second Galactic War.
      • War breaks out along the borders of the Axolotian Empire and Floran Tribal Concordat, reigniting their past feud.
      • Rumblings of a second Apex Civil War begin to filter out of the MiniKnog’s tight grip.
      • Blackhelm re-emerges, declaring territory along the borders of the MiniKnog and Avosi Empire and beginning conflict with both nations.
    • July, 3283 - The Viti retreat to a cold, inactive area of the western Milky Way, and begin violently protecting their borders.
    • February 24th, 3284 - Haven opens its borders again. Within the same year, the Shifter virus began to claim lives in its district of Corrav. This starts a chain of events that leads to Corrav being evacuated and orbitally bombarded to stamp out the infection.
    • March 23rd, 3284 - The Ruin launches an unprecedented counter attack on Mars, managing to launch a nuclear payload from the surface of Earth and obliterate a Martian Destroyer.
    • April 15th, 3284 - The Visitant make first contact with Realspace.
    • 3286 - The majority of the Sol system is officially abandoned by humanity due to increased aggression from the Ruin.
      • The Martians launch an arkship to flee the system, while the Jovian Pirate Confederacy- A band of cutthroats ruling the moons of Jupiter- flee as a fleet.
      • Venus remains inhabited by a rogue AI, managing to hold its own against the Ruin thanks to powerful terraforming technology, as well as the harsh environment of the planet.
      • The Atlas Empire begins its reclamation of Olympus.
    • 3288 - Following the reclamation of Olympus, Markus Aleksandr takes over as emperor of Atlas.
    • 3292 - Now! (As of writing)
