Name: Frosten Weapons Description: Azra'Zult, the Frosten Scimitar used by Karnis Vaerok. What spills from his carnage is frozen blood, misted to the ground. A Frosten Bow used by an Elven Glitch; when drawn back, instead it forms an icy arrow that flies cold and true. Frosten Weapons, much like their opposite, Solus Weapons, are rare weapons forged by the most skilled of crafters. Frosten Weapons utilize a difficult process of forging and constant tempering, owing to their rarity and effectiveness as a weapon; as such, the secret to their creation is oftentimes kept hidden by the greatest of smiths. Their functions are similar to Solus Weapons in that they create a spontaneous effect when struck with as a reaction of the metal, but instead of a fiery burst of heat, Frosten Weapons actually usher forth in a chilling, flash wave of energy that expels heat to create cryogenic temperatures for a mere moment of impact, freezing its target and causing more damage. Different weapons may have different effects; a bow may actually utilize the metal to actually draw upon a water source to densely freeze it into an arrow to fire, a blade will flash in cold as it cuts into flesh, a Frosten bullet will shatter much the same in frigid effect. Also like Solus Weapons, Frosten Weapons use the material of their own contact metal to create the frost effect, and as such need to be tempered and repaired occasionally by an expert well-versed in such things. Much like their creation, their maintenance is a difficult process as well. Frosten Weapons are activated through a trigger, whether it be when drawn or when a button is pressed. An inactive Frosten Weapon will not glow, its metal simply appearing as the typical pale blue of ferozium. When it sparks to life, however, the weapon's metal will glow a faint blue and will begin to fog with chill, water condensating onto the metal freezing into lines of frost down the blade. This glow brightens when one strikes with them, and causes icy mist to fly forth upon as the air chills into droplets of liquid, blood freezing solid and metal frosting over. Abilities: Creates a spontaneous cold-flash effect that rapidly lowers the temperature where it strikes for a moment, causing blood and flesh to freeze or metal to become brittle from cold. In other weapons, can have other interesting effects (see: bow) Can be disabled or enabled. Conditional abilities: Does well against cold-weak materials like flesh. Conditional limitations: Is less effective against armors than other weapons, generally simply causing metal to become brittle and weak to blunt force. Limitations: Difficult to forge, repair, and obtain due to its high-quality materials and arduous creation process. Requires an energy source, typically a high-power cerullium battery. How does it work: Frosten Weapons work by tempering metal with special ferozium salts to cause it to be engrained within the metal like an alloy, a process that involves intense care and patience for it to be done correctly (and with the right knowledge to even do so). The result is a metal which exhibits the heat-resistant propeties of ferozium while also reacting to friction and trauma, causing the superconductive alloy to naturally repel heat, a power which only increases as the harder the swing is. The Frosten Alloy is capable of being used with multiple functions, from blades to hammers to even specially crafted firearm bullets, allowing for even more creative use as well. The metal can also be finely carved and arranged into 'blueprints' that can draw upon a water source such as moist air, absorbing water and condensing it into a hard, frozen model, typically used in Frosten Bows. The resulting ice is strong and cold at cryogenic temperatures, but still weak to heat-based weaponry. The weapons create this using intricate carvings of geometric models to fully carve out the ice, similar to Avian Crystals, and can even be carved to form blades and things out of the ice instead of the Frosten alloy itself. Flavor text: Frosted Weapons emerged from places with a culture devoted to archaic weaponry but with the added specialization of technology, created as strong and legendary blades by masters of their craft. Examples being Frosted Weapons forged within the icy Glitch continent of Rime, or even to high-quality Ravir blades forged by the greatest artisans of Priden. Referenced Technologies: N/A Attainability: [Semi-Closed] Frosten Weapons are supposed to be rare spectacles, forged in a long and arduous process by the most skilled and knowing and found in dangerous dungeons. As such, you better have a reason to have one, and it is best to acquire it ICly via an event, as such a legendary weapon shall not be earned without effort. If your character knows of the secrets to its creation, they may not be too willing to give it away. Tags: [Military]
