// An article appears all over the Galactic Nexus in regards to the latest wars in the Galaxy; to the reader, it would seem like all hell broke loose. The Floran-Hylotl War, the Apex Rebellion, Blackhelm's return, and more that seems to be culminating together in one big crescendo of violence and fear across the entire populace. //

The galaxy is in fear; the worst case scenario has happened, and the populace is in turmoil as violence begins to spread across Civ and Fringe Space. Most are calling it the Second Galactic War, and many fear that the outcome of this war will be much worse than the first one, both in loss of life and in economic turmoil. Let's boil this down.

    The Floran-Hylotl War
    upload_2020-3-30_6-32-15.png

The Hylotl Empire is currently in deadly warfare with the Floran Concordat, intensified due to their close proximity to one another, from the old cultural hatred towards each other, and the recent rise of an imperialist sentiment in Axolotial politics. Since the previous update on the war, the Hylotl have proven to be the technologically and morally superior, but are finding themselves trumped against the strength and numbers of the Floran hordes. The Hylotl Empire has lost the important shipbuilding colony of Tikata as well as the Erchius fields of Iraias, while the Florans have lost a weapon producing colony of Jata, a small horde, the drysap producing colony of Keart, and the living colony of Urawirk.

It is obvious that the battlefield is in the Hylotls' favor, but the adaptive ability of Florans is not to be underestimate, a harsh lesson learned in the first Floran-Hylotl War that costed the Hylotls their capital. The one thing that may prove a dangerous blow to the Hylotls is if the secret of Hydroplating production reached Floran hands and was mass produced by the Florans, allowing them to easily invade underwater Hylotl colonies.

"It pains me deeply that we are attacked by the Floran Hordes again after making peace - peace is our way, but when our people are slaughtered and our planets decimated, what will peace do for us against these inhuman beings? Peace is for peacetime, war is to ripple the waters of justice against evil, to purge it so we may have peace again. That is the Hylotl way."
    - Prince Tikuu Kirito, Prince of Axolotia

"Their 'righteouss call'? They would rather tread upon our landss and call themsselvess peaceful than leave uss alone. Let uss not forget their usse of the Black Blight weapon to wipe uss by the millionss and to wipe our ecosyssstemss; write about it in Axolotia and they will have you jailed and your articlesss taken down!"

    The Sol War
    [IMG]

Ever since Earthfall 40 years ago, the Technocratic state of Mars had devoted a huge amount of its resources to keeping the tentacle monster that had destroyed Earth at Bay, constantly glassing the surface of Earth to melt it in a conflagration or bombarding it with thermonuclear bombs when it begins to rise again.

On the 23rd of March, 3284, the 'Ruin' launched a nuke back. The attack was unprecedented and completely blasted apart a Destroyer-class glasser. It is believed that the monster had grown intelligent enough to launch an ICBM that was stationed in North America, decrypting decades-old launch codes and targeting the ship. Mars forces are baffled at this, and worry is spreading as the Sol War begins to tip in favor of the Ruin.

    The Infected Threat
After the Federal Biohazard Control's failure to keep back the Infected threat from Civspace, border colonies of various Civspace factions are growing weary from the ever-increasing influence of the Infected and their rapid spread, especially as stories of giant monsters and walking zombies reach the masses. Pressured by their people, Civspace factions have begun to take measures to prepare to push back this threat. USCM High Command has declared the infection a "drastic threat to not only the welfare and safety of Humanity, but for possibly all sapient life in the Milky Way, declaring a state of emergency in response to the Infected spread into Civspace.

    The Apex Rebellion

The autocratic, collectivist authoritarian government of the MiniKnog is once again facing a tear in its dominion over the Apex people and its hold over its region of CivSpace. Fueled by the recent transgressions against the Apex people during the economic collapse, which saw the countless deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people from brutal police attacks and food shortages, this rebellion is founded in the roots of the ideals of those who led those of the past. With support from the Dakkma, and the control of several outlying colonies wrenched away by rebel forces, will this be the final fight the MiniKnog will take part in?

    Blackhelm's Empire

The shadow of the Scorned King, Emperor Blackhelm, has been steadily growing larger over the past fifteen years, during which time, the Black Empire, under his control, has been able to spread its influence to pushing on the borders of CivSpace. Most recently, their actions of aggression in conquering major outlying areas of CivSpace control and the decimation and occupation of Nova Australiasia have left the interstellar community at a lost at what to do to deal with this looming threat.

Most remember Blackhelm as the Mad King of the Fringe, a Glitch who attempted to unite it under an ethno-nationalist government of Glitch following the cruelties of the Galactic War, but after his failure to accomplish this goal, he left the Fringe in shame, departing to a lone region of the Southern Galaxy, where he slowly amassed his new army. Through strategic conquering, he has been able to unite the countless Glitch kingdoms of the lower Southern Galactic Sector into a single, powerful force. The dream of his ethnostate has been realized, but what will become of his idealistic desires to see a united Milky Way, under one Crimson Banner?

    The Neo-Catholic Western Schism
    [IMG]

"By God, we shall triumph over the nonbelievers. They cling to their archaic notions of equality of extraterrestrial to Man, yet when in truth, it is solely Man that is God's chosen. Let there be no doubt in our destiny as the sole inhabitants of the universe He forged for us, alongside those built by God to mimic us. Be there no doubting our dual purposes as Man, be it Man of Christ or Man of Steel."
-Pope Ernest-Quincy The Indicator, Head of the New Catholic State

After centuries of existence, the remnants of the Catholic Church have finally stepped back into the light, in an age where humanity is spread among the stars, to call for a final, eternal crusade against sin across the galaxy. The Pope's ideals have created a gap in the views of the remaining members of the Church, ranging from his loyalists in the Vatican- Now freely floating at the center of his Civspace nation-state- to sedition in the outer colonies of the Church's holy empire, a split based on the status of alien life as holy or unholy. Now, a combined force of humans and Glitch rage across the cosmos in roving bands of armored knights, seeking to exterminate all traces of foreign life beyond what the Pope deemed right.

Holding him to his borders are his own former constituents, an equally powerful if less organized resistance of bishops and cardinals turned against what they deem to be an unfit ruler, corrupted by the Devil to seed wrath in the ranks of God's men. Small bands of the Pope's men break free from the theocratic state war every now and then, and these continue to grow in number henceforth. The war seems to be nearing a dangerously high imbalance in the Pope's favor, and soon, he may have the resources he needs to expand into the rest of the galaxy.

"Look to no other outdated being than that of the Pope, in his ancient citadel of stone and lies. The Vatican is a holy temple, defiled over the last century by the ilk of the Devil as an affront to the Lord. Are we not duty-bound to contain Hell to whence it came? Are we not all beings capable of attaining Heaven, as God willed?"
-Bishop Malcolm Geartrod, Speaker of the Neo-Catholic Prodigal Sons
