History:

The Cervidani are a deer-like humanoid race originating from the planet Ubos in a binary star system within the mid-section of the Norma Arm. Ubos was once a beautiful green paradise with around three continents and a widespread ocean all around. The Cervidani themselves evolved and eventually grew out from the Great Forest region of Ubos's largest continent and spread across the land.

Being very work-orientated the Cervidani developed great technology over their history since discovering the uses of fossil-fuel and engineering, creating vehicles, appliances and a more fast growing population. This continuous technological growth lead to an era known as "The Darkening” in which the CO2 emissions from each production facility grew worse, basically covering the planet in a thick layer of clouds and ruining both the ocean and rain, making both very acidic which killed off numerous species and threw the planet into a perpetual winter. Using this decline, the government grew more corrupt over time and made working areas a living hell for workers. Despite the negatives, the Cervidani have developed a culture, emulating the roaring twenties in the richer sections with a huge likening for swing music. Cervidan fashion usually involves heavy fur coats and other heavy clothing items for the coldness. Technology was widespread for the different industries, such as mining equipment and transportation.


Biology:

Features: Cervidani range from 5'11 all the way to 7 feet tall standing on their digitigrade legs. Fur colour ranges from a light tan to a darker brown with a chance for white spots on the fur. Cervidan antlers can be similar to that of deer or even moose, taking on multiple styles and sizes between sexes, these are also more cosmetic, losing their ability to molt but instead keeping them at a fixed length which grow back when broken. The Cervidan hooves he evolved into enlarged nails on the hands while the feet are still hooved. Sexual dimorphism is also present in the species with males having broader shoulders, taller heights and more impressive antlers that attracted mates long ago, while with females being shorter, having breasts, and instead of antlers, small nubs, or nothing at all. Cervidan diets are mainly vegetarian but eating meat isn't unheard of.

Senses: Cervidani possess a good sense of smell with their keen noses. Their sight is pretty decent but they have trouble detecting shades of red and green, but yellows and blues are detected more easily, also the eyes are more commonly far-sighted. Hearing is often very good too with the size of the Cervidan ears allowing them to pick up fine sounds.


Culture:

Modern Cervidani culture takes after the roaring twenties for the richer members of society, who enjoy a safer life while those much poorer feel the effects of underpaying jobs and abuse. City architecture can be best described of following an art deco style with some Russian influences too, however with the state of crumbling society and economy under the corrupt government, buildings have fallen into states of disrepair and are often vandalised. The common government type of Cervidani is similar to Despotism, with a central group in power over the population which brought in a communist-like life style.

Clothing in Cervidani culture is often very heavy to suit the cold climates of Ubos. Males tend to wear buttoned shirts and heavy jackets with long trousers and boots that are designed for the digitigrade legs which are quite similar to leg warmers but with a bottom to cover the hooves. Females tend to have it easier, with wearing more traditional shirts and more stylish jackets and dresses. Hats designed with slits which allow them to be strapped around antlers are quite common for males in Cervidan society.

Cervidani Food usually contains a large percentage of spicy foods, usually broths and soups involving a vegetarian recipe, but there is more meat-focused recipes too. Alcohol is another part of Cervidan culture which usually similar to whiskeys and vodkas.

Lastly, smoking is a big portion of Cervidan culture from cigars to cigarettes there is little chance to find some who doesn't smoke.


Technology:

Cervidani technology at this point is very 1920's inspired with some underlying teslapunk themes. Appliances around the home are from the era, such as radios or typewriters but such things as televisions have been invented in the world and a very basic TV broadcasting service was soon created from this. Warfare in general has the same technological level as in WW1 with planes, airships, basic tanks and also tesla guns. For food, Cervidani have put highrise greenhouses into places in cities and growing crops within them, this may be the only modern part in their technology.
