    Brute Mixim

    Name: Brute Mixim

Description: Much like a regular Mixim, they are humanoid creatures comprised of a jelly-like substance with a thin skin keeping their insides in place. The difference starts inside that skin. A Brute Mixim's skin is thick and rubbery. Unlike a normal Mixim, Brutes won't burn up in the sunlight thanks to their skin. They have thin legs and large, bulbous arms. Brute forarms contain a long structure similar to a cuttlebone, with a ball on one end acting as a fist. Sharper bones jut out in random directions from their 'fist', acting as claws. They walk on all fours in a similar manner to gorillas. They have much smaller brains, located in the same place as a regular Mixim's brain.  Due to their extremely low intelligence and lack of self awareness Brutes have been classified as animals.

Behavior: Brutes are very aggressive and territorial, rarely living in groups of more than two. If anything they haven't seen before enters their territory, they'd rather destroy it than investigate. Brutes mark their territories by knocking down large trees in a circle around their nests. If any Mixim happen to wander into their nest, the Brute will go into a frenzy and maul them to death, taking their cloaks and hanging it for other Brutes to see. The more cloaks a Brute has accumulated, the higher their rank is.

Tamability: It's impossible to tame, but easy to control due to their stupidity.

Where is it found?: Brutes have been forced into the dense jungles lining the equator of the Mixim's Homeworld. A few were brought to the Fringe for research reasons and are kept in captivity.

Rarity: They are fairly rare, only ~500 exist.

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Despite their aggressive behavior, Brutes are herbivores. They eat the nutrient-filled leaves of the trees that grow around the lush jungles of the Mixim Homeworld. On occasion they will tear open regular Mixim and eat their insides, which doesn't really count as meat.

Products?: Their internal gel is similar to fat and is highly caloric, so it burns for a while. Other than that, they're useless.

Reproduction: Brutes breed in the same way Mixim do; two partners engage in intercourse.

Size: Male Brutes are slightly larger than a Silverback Gorilla, while females are slightly smaller.

Weight: They are extremely dense and weigh ~600 lbs.

Lifespan: The longest a Brute has lived is 22 years.

Abilities: While they lack anything close to our definition of muscles they are extremely strong. They hit hard enough to topple large trees with a single punch. Imagine getting hit in the face with a bunch of sandbags; lots of weight distributed over a small area. The 'skin' of a Brute doesn't dry up in sunlight, unlike regular Mixim.

Flaws: They can't swim, and despite their gel being similar to fat it's so dense they sink like a rock. They are also extremely stupid and have one-track minds. If one charges at you, just step to the side and let it crash.

Other: Brutes are the result of an experiment gone wrong. A group of Homeworld Mixim were dissatisfied with living in fear of the sun constantly, and set about creating a serum that would allow them to cast aside their cloaks forever. While society gave a great deal of backlash, they got government funding and started their research in secret labs deep in the seedy underbelly of the Mixim capital. Homeless Mixim were pulled off the street and experimented on against their will. Brutes were the result. While the serum granted immunity to sunlight, it caused their brains to either explode or shrink drastically, while excess calcium formed jagged bones in their forearms. These freaks were labeled as failures and abandoned deep inside the lush Mixim jungles, where no one would find them.
