    Name: Anansi Silk

Description: Anansi Silk looks remarkably similar to regular Spider Silk of the 33rd Century, excluding it's eerie silvery-cobalt coloration and sticky, smooth texture.

Abilities: - Incredibly light with a density of 1.5 g/cm3.
    - Unlike regular spider silk, Anansi silk has been genetically modified time and time again to have a higher general and ultimate tensile strength than that of the next strongest material; Carbon Fiber. The increase is about 1.5x stronger.
    - Contracts in response to electrical voltage, allowing it to function as a lift mechanism
    - Can be used in the production of synthetic muscles for prosthetic arms and legs to lift large amounts of weight, more so than carbon fiber synthetic muscles or hydraulics.
    - More fire-retardant than regular spider-silk; It wont burn up and become useless immediately upon being grazed by a flame.

Conditional Abilities (Optional): - In conjunction with alcohol or antibiotic fluid, can be used as a bandage
    - Not as expensive to manufacture as Carbon Fiber Alternatives, due to the renewable nature of spider silk

Limitations: - Much like regular spider silk, Anansi Silk can be cut easily with the use of a knife or other bladed implement.
    - Production of the silk in industrial quantities requires large amounts of spiders to achieve results
    - An electrical shock to the silk will cause the silk to uncontrollably contract tightly, locking it up for a few seconds and causing extreme, uncontrollable pain
    - The max weight limit is about 230kg for a prosthetic arm, requiring proper support for the lifting implement, stability and the usage of proper lifting technique to hold it without injury to the silk.
    - If an EMP is used, the muscle functions of the silk will cease to be useful until such a time that it can be resupplied with voltage ( Generic EMP 3 CRP Turns )
    - Plasma shreds through the silk's structure, making it useless. This can also cause a fire, which will spread quickly through the muscle fiber

Conditional Limitations (Optional): - Collection of the silk is dangerous, due to the poisonous venom of the Anansi Spider

How does it work: Running off of the idea of the high tensile strength, low density and general "strength" of Spider Silk, Anansi Spiders have been meticulously genetically modified to produce silk that balances high tensile strength, low density and cost. Additionally, the silk has been designed in such a way that when stimulated by an electric field, the silk itself will contract in response to it. Another result of this is the flame-retardent and slightly heat-resistant nature of the silk, to prevent electrical charge from burning the artificial

Flavor text: Proposed by Val Komenatsu and developed by Leyna Steele, Avalon brand Anasi Spider Silk is an attempt by the company to maintain a competitive edge in a growing industry of prosthetics on Haven; Utilizing baseline genetic modification of a species of spider and gently tweaking the tensile strength of it's silk and the density, they hope to be able to create synthetic muscles that are light, yet strong. Other uses of this material could be discovered by those willing to undertake research.

    Referenced Technologies (Optional): N/A

Attainability: Semi-Closed; Avalon Prosthetics and certain other products will have this material inside of it.
