Description: A highly advanced thermal and radiological based weapon system designed to counter heavy armor. 

Abilities:
Able to melt through most types of heavy armor with relative ease and is extremely effective against vehicles.
Also very effective against biological targets, though the weapon is unsuited to prolonged firefights with infantry.
Irradiates its target with both particle and wave based radiation.

Conditional Abilities (Optional):
May blind the target due to the sheer amount of light produced.
Can induce neutron activation in its target, causing the target itself to start emitting radiation.

Limitations:
Automatically vents for several seconds after each shot, during which the weapon is unable to shoot.   Modifying the weapon to fire without automatically venting the excess heat can cause the internals and casing to melt, either rendering the weapon useless or causing it to start a chain reaction and detonate, severely injuring or possibly even killing the user if they are unlucky.
Requires that the user wear sufficient thermal and radiological shielding in order to use it safely.  Firing it unprotected will likely both burn and irradiate the user.
Only effective at shorter ranges due to the lack of an electromagnetic field to contain the plasma.
Each canister only contains enough gas to fire three shots before needing to reload.

Conditional Limitations (Optional):
Can blind the user when firing if they lack sufficient optical protection.
Extremely loud.  Makes a very distincive hissing noise as it fires due to the water in the air instantaneously boiling as a result of the extreme levels of heat, making stealth a near imposibility when firing the weapon.

How does it work: The Atlas M57 works by inducing a nuclear fusion reaction within a highly pressurised fuel mix located within an ammunition canister, and then projecting the resulting stream of plasma from the weapon's barrel as a intense, energetic beam of plasma, photons, and subatomic particles with a heat in the near tens of thousands of degrees Centigrade.  A beam of radiation is also shot into and around the plasma stream, and acts as a high harmonic wavefront, amplifying the energy of the particles and also imparting additional radiological properties to the weapon as a byproduct.

Flavor text: The culmination of several months of reseach and hard work by Dr. Donn Hoffman, the Engineering Production Lead of the Atlas Corporation, in an attempt to make a heavy anti-armor weapon.  It utilizes all of the most advanced technology available to the Atlas Corporation and was designed solely and in secret by Dr. Hoffman, with the owner of the corporation, High Atlas Lloyd, being the only other person made aware of it's existance.
