Name: V.A.P also known as a Parkour pack

    (Vertical Assistance Pack)

Description: The VAP looks like an inflated waist-belt with five particle thrusters with a diameter of 5 centimeter (about 2 inches) located at, approximately aligned with the spine, two about an inch away from the middle one and two on the sides and two smaller ones with a diameter of 3 centimeters (about 1 inch). All thrusters are angled away from the body to keep the push of the thrusters from either pantsing you or ripping your pants up. A dial is also located on the top right to control the modes of the VAP and a dial located on the top left to control the power given to the thrusters.

    Abilities:

-Provides extra jump height, (3 feet at the lowest setting, 6 at the highest) and jump length, (10 feet at the lowest setting, 14 feet at the highest) which takes six seconds to warm up, once warmed up the device produces a green light on the top of the controller and a pull of the trigger gives a boost of thrust, in turn giving forward and vertical movement.

-A wall-run/climb mode which requires turning a dial located on the top right of the pack, first click jump boost, second click this mode, third click fall dampening. It also warms up taking five seconds unless the jump boost mode was used prior to activating this mode. The length of running on a wall is about 10 feet with a loss of 3 feet vertical at the lowest setting and 12 feet with 3 feet vertical loss, for climbing it can gain 10 feet of height at the lowest setting and 12 feet at the highest.

-A fall dampening mode is on by default and when the computer detects vertical speed gains over 6 mph it activates and slows to at the least 3 mph.

    Conditional Abilities: None

    Limitations:

-It has a battery life of 30 uses in the lowest mode and 15 in the highest mode

-The stability while fall dampening is on is questionable when the user is moving under 3 mph horizontal, under that speed the front two thrusters can't provide enough power to keep the user upright

-The VAP is completely unprotected from EMPs to keep the expense as low as possible.

It requires training to use in any degree.

-The VAP itself is not all that durable, the only protection is around the larger thrusters and computer with a thin lightweight durasteel sheet.

-It requires one hand for use leaving only one hand for other actions, it takes a lot of skill to use something in the same hand as the controller.

    Conditional Limitations:

-It cannot be used in a vacuum environment, it uses air intake to work. (An EVA version is someone else's problem)

    How does it work:

The VAP works with the use of five particle thrusters that provide a boost of thrust giving the user a boost forwards and upwards, the user can adjust their position to allow for more height or length. The VAP houses a hydrogen battery cell that is 10 centimeters long (about 4 inches) and 4 centimeters (about 1 ½ inches) wide, the battery uses air-intake and the only waste produced is water vapor. The battery is on top of the workings of the particle thrusters and a computer with the ability to input the controls from the controller and put them into hydraulics that control the angle of the thrusters and switches the mode. A speedometer is also inside which is how the fall dampening is activated. A controller is provided which is connected to the pack by wire and can be strapped to the arm of the user and has a green LED on the top of the joystick shaped controller, a trigger and a D-pad like control the only difference a button in the middle on the back behind the location of the trigger. The D-pad is used to adjust your position mid-air.

    Flavor text:

The original intent for it was military use, it ended up being more popular amongst couriers and warehouse jobs, mainly for moving light objects. It's cheap right up until you get to the particle thrusters, otherwise it's mainly cheap to produce, the design is public and can be produced by any company. Some military applications were used for scouting or CQB and CQC situations, (there is a difference between the two) but it is not too popular among most militaries.

    Referenced Technologies: None

    Attainability: Open

Hi /profile/14-gamercharacter/?do=hovercard" data-mentionid="14" href="/profile/14-gamercharacter/">@GamerCharacter, I'll be handling the grading of this app today. So far it seems fine, though I just have two things mainly.

    1. Why does it have an air intake? Particle thrusters run on electricity and do not require oxygen like chemical thrusters do.

    2. Please reduce the 4 hour batter time to instead a limit to how many times it can be used before needing a recharge.

The air intake is for the battery

And I will change said limit.

    Batteries don't need air intakes.

I was mainly using it because I was checking out the chemical batteries in the energy lore, it said hydrogen batteries need oxygen, so that's what the air-intake is for.
