Name: Auxiliary Brands / Hearts of Aether Description: Auxiliary brands are unsightly lumps of metal, slightly smaller than the size of a baseball and covered with veiny tendrils. They are attached to shell of a Novakid, most often placed on the upper-center of the chest where they will remain unseen. Abilities: Auxiliary brands are capable of preforming most non-cerebral functions of a brand, such as helping to maintain the shell. Limitations: Does not replace the primary brand. Getting shot in the there is still very bad, if not lethal. Offers almost no real benefits to Novakids not suffering from brand defects. How does it work: Auxiliary brands are artificial brands, created to help supplement the primarily brand. Typically the purpose of getting one is to offset the effects of brand defects, but there have been times one was received to help stabilize the shell after a Novakid received massive injuries. Flavor text: Auxiliary brands are a recent medical innovation of the Anodyne, known among the more religious or mystical circles of the race as "Hearts of Aether."
