    Name: Living Rock

    Description:
The living rock is a rather peculiar organism, it's mental functions are the bare minimum and it's biology is incredibly alien. In appearance, it looks almost exactly like a pebble found on Earth. The actual rock part is more of a shell for the organism inside, which is a little white crystal, as detailed below.

    Behavior:
The rock doesn't really do much, it spends the majority of it's time basking in the sun. When the sun moves, the rock slowly rolls back into the sunshine.

Tamability: - You can just pick it up and stick it in a minimal enclosure with a basking light, it can't and doesn't object.

Where is it found?: The organism can be found most places. Having been moved from their original planet multiple times, it's not too uncommon to find one on other planets.

    Rarity:
Uncommon, not exactly a rare occurrence but not something you'll find everyday. One might just turn up at your doorstep while others you'll have to spend a while to find.

Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy:
Uses heat energy from the sun/other heat sources. Will die without it.

Products?: Produces small, white, crystal formations on the surface of the rock. Not worth much and commonly quite flawed, but there all the same.

Reproduction: Asexual, if crystals harvested from the parent rock are buried in soil, they will solidify the soil around them if enough heat is present and become a living rock

Size: Size varies on the size of the crystal it was born from.

Weight: Varies, but normally quite light.

    Lifespan: Around 10 years

Abilities: Hard rock like shell, can roll around with effort.

Flaws: It's a pebble. It can be easily destroyed with enough force and can't really do much

Other: Originally from a living asteroid (how that came to happen, the scientific community has no idea.) that hit a planet, causing all the crystals on it to fracture into smaller, itty bitty pieces that grew into their own tiny rocks.

Hey, I'm going to begin grading on this today.

How does this move around if it's a completely solid, singular object? I understand you said it can roll with effort, but what force is causing it to roll?

What's the largest these things can get?

What is it really? Close to plantlife, fungi or something different? Just a closest comparison to something as far as what I'd see if I looked at it under a microscope, despite it being completely alien as you've described.

It moves around via the crystal inside rolling around. There's a bit of space inbetween the shell and the actual organism. It moves around through particle vibration via heat.

The largest I'd say is probably a small rock. Bigger than a pebble but nothing really that major, like the size that they make those snake hides at.

And the closest that you'd get from it is probably fungi.
