Originally posted by TeslaTheNovakid Name: Phosphine Aided Defensive Mechanism Description: A large and silver seemingly metal arm, specifically the left one. When activated via switch on the back of the hand, a hole similar to the end of a piece of PVC pipe appears from the palm, and a small screen appears atop the backside of the wrist. Abilities: - Fires a blast of red phosphorous and water vapour in pellets, each one releasing phosphine gas that slowly kills if inhaled and can detonate if introduced to fire. - Made of durasteel, very very sturdy and durable. - Able to function while not worn, making it usable to Novakids (gaseous form is not detected as an arm). - Is very hard, and can be used as a last resort punching weapon. Conditional abilities (optional): - Pellets create small explosions as well as releasing their gas payload on fire planets, being introduced to very high heat. - Able to expend all phosphorous at once in a sort of "panic mode" fashion, causing an explosion approximately the size of an adult female wherever aimed. Limitations: - Weighs about sixty-five pounds, and therefore is heavy. A good amount of strength would be necessary to wield this. - Must be handled carefully, as to not mix the two substances early to cause the user's death. - Gas barely effects Novakids, making them nauseous and uneasy. - Fairly weak to EMPS, but only a good quality one will disable it. - Doesn't work on glitches (Unless it explodes) Conditional limitations (optional): - Can misfire, harming or killing the user. - Device may drill itself into the user's arm entirely and cauterize the wound behind it if "panic mode" is activated, as it is extremely hard to get all of the phosphorous out at once without proper stability. This will cause novas to leak hot gas and plasma, causing the device to melt and ultimately explode. How does it work: The arm has a switch on the back of the hand, similar to a light switch. Before it is activated, however, it simply works as a gauntlet or glove of some sort, simply being a large pummelling weapon plated with an exceptionally rare metal. When the switch is pulled however, an opening protrudes from the palm, as well as a hatch opening just below the switch, a small screen showing the amount of phosphorous and vapour left, the canister being just above the shoulder. A tube runs through the arm to the protrusion, where the pellets themselves are fired from. When the user completely opens their palm, three to five pellets of the phosphorous-water vapour mixture fire outwards in front of them, opening on contact with anything and releasing a colourless, flammable, toxic gas know as Phosphine ( PH3 ). The initial exposure causes the person who inhales the gas to be left gasping for air on the ground, allowing for a quick escape by the user of the device. However, quick enough medical assistance can save a life, but some damage may leave physical and mental scarring. Adverse health effects generally occur within the first few hours following inhalation of phosphine. Cardiovascular complications may cause death within 12 to 24 hours following exposure. Signs of liver damage may be delayed 48 to 72 hours following exposure. Deaths that occur 24 hours after exposure are usually a result of liver or kidney failure. Fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) may be delayed for 72 hours following exposure. Phosphine inhibits the body's ability to produce proteins. Adverse health effects from phosphine exposure are dose dependent. Inhaling phosphine causes respiratory irritation, compromises heart (cardiac) and circulatory functions, depresses the central nervous system, and produces severe gastrointestinal pain. However, being made of gas, this would have little to no effect on a novakid.
