    Name: VIP Series Personal Shield

    Description:
A shield that one wears around their waist with four power cell packs, and 4 projection fields. not too large an unwieldy, but certainly noticeable and not stylish. Just practical. Pricepoint ~25k, not including extra power supplies.

    Abilities:
    Stops bullets! Pretty simple!

    Conditional Abilities (Optional):
    Capable of stopping plasma.

    Limitations:
Anything moving at the approximate speed of 500 mph and no larger than a .50 BMG will be stopped in their tracks. The more powerful the round, the fewer shots that this shield will stop.

    Conditional Limitations (Optional):
Cannot stop any sort of melee attack. Bullets cannot leave the field just as they cannot enter the field. Greatly reduces the effectiveness of laser weapons. They effectively give you sunburns.

    How does it work:
Anything moving at 500mph will trigger the sensors around the belt, and will trigger the shield, using projected energy fields to stop the round and dissipate the energy.

    Flavor text:

Created by TiberArms in order to attempt to appeal to customers with a unique stock, that is not entirely based around just making things more dead, this prototype was made with the unarmed VIP in mind!

    Attainability: Open

I am the grade boy. Prepare your respective orifice(s).

So with this thing being worn around the waist, I take it that this is a very passive defense. Is this device intended to be constantly observing from all directions? Is there an angle-limit on the sensors?

Additionally, how would this go about detecting energy weapons (namely, lasers)?

The device runs on passive power, utilizing small parts of its energy for its detection software and hardware.its main power source goes in to full effect after the shield starts triggering due to incoming fire. Once the first round is detected, the shield will remain active until at least three seconds between incoming rounds has passed. The shield has the potential to remain up and active for approximately fifteen seconds on a single power supply. The detection system uses a separate power source located on the back, and will power the detection system for five hours, as it was meant to keep the VIP safe in public settings for a set amount of time.
This can of course be turned off at the source manually, and turned on when needed, but will take roughly five minutes to warm up before being active, so it is not an immediate trigger when a hostile appears.

it will not stop lasers, as they are energy, moving faster than possible to be detected.

Also as far as angles, I suppose only aiming straight down at their head. it throws up a perfect cylinder of protection around the wearer

Alright. The only other thing I'm going to ask about is the nature of the detection hardware.

How does it go about detecting a standard bullet? Radio waves? If so, could a specialized round made with an aegisalt coating avoid or delay the detection response?

Alright. Considering the nature of what this tech is designed to combat, and the limitations/workarounds therein, I'm perfectly fine with giving it its first Pass.

The only other note I will give on this tech is to make sure you highlight what kind of price-point this kind of protection would be at: it isn't called VIP Series for nothing.
