Schelor is a bad place to live, but a good place to die. Let me explain.

We are plagued by war, often over resources or diplomatic disagreements, but sometimes for no reason at all. War is a way of life here. It’s more or less always been. It’s nowhere as bad as it used to be now, but the threat lingers over us all.
We used to teach our children about the importance of honor. If someone disrespected you in any way, you were to respond with ten times the force. This behavior transitioned into adult life and created issues. Former friends would turn on eachother over a percieved sign of disrespect; A sign that functional human beings would disregard naturally. But the Deadbeat don’t function like humans do. Generation after generation of Deadbeats have all been taught the same thing. That war is a way to regain honor.

Honor codes have been banned in our territory for this reason. After mere months of mandatory schooling, we have started to see a noticable difference in the way  Deadbeats of all age groups act. They are becoming more forgiving people. There is also less discrimination against people from foreign civilizations such as Haven and the ICIF. Schelor is at its core an ultranationalist, isolationist civilization and that will never change. But unlike a few years ago when all forms of outside communication was shunned, some people have started to welcome it, citing the success of the All-Seeing Eye. The All-Seeing Eye was an outside influence which forced its way into a dictatorial leadership for the greater good. Thanks to Her efforts, our people now enjoy galactic communications, a blossoming economy and a sprawling city to live in. Countless of militiamen have laid down their arms and joined the winning side, but why?
For the sole reason that Schelor is improving. Access to foreign luxuries, life opportunities, stable work and a non-intrusive state has proven the Republic of Schelor to be in the Deadbeat people’s best interest.

While living here now may seem like a bad life decision, the Deadbeat look to the future and see Schelor for what it could be. Schelor, as mentioned before, has no desire to interact with the outside world. There is no desire from the people to expand their borders or intervene in intergalactic affairs and the state obliges. As of now it is one of the most fortified planets in existence. Anti-ship systems dot the surface of the planet and the six month plan to construct bunkers able to fit the Republic of Schelor’s entire population is working out and the Deadbeat have access to a wide array of consumer goods thanks to the Fringe Syndicalist Coalition.
There are countless more details, but I’ll spare you the information.

As of now, Schelor is shaping itself up to be a secure investment for any future homeowner, business owner or for those looking to settle down. We have very affordable prices for any buyers, be it local or foreign. Keep us in mind when considering where to raise your children.

So what I’m getting is that this is a planet forced into the space age that wasn’t yet ready.
