Name: Ignition Gauntlets, Glitch Pyromancy Description: Depending on if they are equipment or Glitch augmentation, Ignition Gauntlets either look like large, bulky mechanical gloves that go up to the elbow with a visible gas container; or, sleeker mechanical gauntlets that wrap up to the elbow respectively. The fingers of the gauntlets have built-in pads which are used to create enough friction to cause an ignition. Abilities: Explosion: Ignition Gauntlets allow a user to project and move a colorless cloud of gas which can be ignited with a snap, causing a brief burst of incredible heat and fire powerful enough to cause severe burns. This cloud can be manipulated freely into various shapes, from thin lines to large spheres, and can move one foot per second (or five feet in a turn). Conditional Abilities: Overheat: The explosion caused by Ignition Gauntlets causes metal to heat up rapidly, enough to cause light burns at a touch. Repeated explosions may cause metals with a lower melting point to slowly begin to melt. Ferozium is completely unaffected by this. Internal Production: Glitch are capable of producing the nanomachines and gasses needed to operate Ignition Gauntlets within their own bodies when augmented with them. Continual: A secondary feature of an Ignition Gauntlet is the ability to create a constant, low strength fire going in a hand by continuously outputting a stream of gas after igniting the cloud. While this has essentially no range, it does allow for a user to coat their palm and fingers in fire. Limitations: Range: Ignition Gauntlets can only manipulate their projected cloud up to fifty feet away, as the nanomachines are no longer able to be controlled beyond that range. Time: The nanomachines used by Ignition Gauntlets only retain enough power to persist for a short time. After one minute (or ten turns) they shut off entirely, and the gas begins to disperse without the nanomachines to guide it. Visibility: When the gas goes beyond twenty five feet, it takes an extra moment for the spark to reach the end-point of the cloud, giving an opponent time to react as they may be able to see the trail of fire coming. Conditional Limitations: Neural Implant: To guide the nanomachines to their target, a user must have an implant installed within their head. Glitch are exempt from this due to the gauntlets integrating with their body. Ignition: When not integrated into a Glitch, the canisters that store the gasses used in the gauntlets are a valid target. When hit by a bullet or energy projectile, the canister will rupture in an explosion briefly in the area around it- this can cause severe burns to its user if not properly protected. Detection: It is possible for someone to detect that Ignition gauntlets are in use through one of two methods. First, the gasses used produce a very slight, acidic aroma. Second, there is an audible hiss when the gas is being released from the gauntlets. Training: Unsurprisingly, to properly use Ignition Gauntlets without being able to physically see where you are directing the gas, a user needs proper practice in mental visualization and memory. Beginners will often accidentally direct the cloud improperly to a different area than intended. EMP: Nanomachines that have been released from the Ignition Gauntlets are vulnerable to EMPs, when caught in the radius of one, all nanomachines instantly shut off permanently; leaving the gas to disperse. How does it work: Ignition Gauntlets function by using neurally guided nanomachines to direct colorless volatile gasses which are attracted to the nanites to a target location. A user can then snap their fingers together- the tips of which have pads to allow for greater friction- to generate a spark; causing a fiery ignition throughout the entire gas cloud. This process destroys all nanites deployed by the gauntlets. A pressurized canister located on the device stores both the nanomachines and the gasses. When integrated into Glitch, the gasses and nanomachines are produced by a user’s own body over time. Allowing them to go without external storage canisters. Flavor text: Originally created within Glitch Hiveminds for use by their various wizards and mages, the design has since spread through many other elements of the galaxy for both entertainment reasons and their original, weaponized purpose.
