A KillTree in the form of a mighty oak. You can tell it's a KillTree because nothing else is living around it. Name: KillTrees Description: KillTrees typically take the form of a tree similar to Oak trees, and their wood is just about identical a majority of the time, if only because it has to be quite strong to support its rather odd, unique lifestyle. Behavior: What separates KillTrees from a regular Oak or other hardwood tree are the rather elastic inner portion of the trunk of each one of them, and the style of roots it grows outward, along the surface in a wide area. These roots, and their protruding tips, exist in order to detect movement. Upon detecting movement of anything above a roughly 70 pound threshold, a KillTree's elastic inner trunk will flex the rest of the body of the tree in the direction of the movement quickly, bending it over in order to crush the approaching threat under its entire weight. Tamability: It isn't. But it's as easily grown as any other tree. Where is it found?: KillTrees were first discovered on an extremely hostile alien world where dangerous wildlife that frequently damaged trees in the process of eating off of them was present. As a result, the trees adapted a rather extreme form of self-defense. They however, have few issues being re-seeded on other planets, and as a result have been found on planets that never originally had them. This has resulted in many instances of unsuspecting travelers taking a stroll in the woods only to be crushed by a random tree they passed by. Rarity: Uncommon. Malicious assholes enjoy planting these knowing that in about 30 years, someone will stumble upon it and force the tree into a self-defense situation. For this reason, they're not common, but probably not as rare as they should be either. Diet/Method of gaining nutrients and energy: Photosynthesis. Products?: Wood. Sap. Leaves.
