    Ravir-Forged Blades
    Description:
(No, I don't own any of the art herein, and claim nothing, yada yada yada finding pictures of futuristic swords on Google is hard okay)

Ravir weaponry, like their armor, and just about every other piece of military equipment in the Ravirrin, are made of specialized compounds created by the Ravir using reverse-engineered Watcher (An ancient spacefaring race that uplifted the Ravir, see race app) technology. This composite is achieved using a neutron forge, using cold fusion to create great bursts of energy harnessed to create an incredibly-strong form of steel.

For the blades specifically, the compound metals used are forged into inflexible, incredibly-solid blades that do not bend. While solid, the forging process leaves the molecules of the blade quantum-locked together in a more primitive form than a Watcher Blade, keeping the blade from shattering or chipping. The process and materials used, when produced by skilled craftsmen, produce impressive blades that easily cleave through flesh, kevlar, and even low-tier plate armor with frightening ease- Even dealing considerable damage to the heaviest of military materials. And that is just the slashing edges of the blade. The tip of a quality Ravirri blade, when aimed properly, can penetrate through even the strongest power-armor chestplate with a strong thrust. Most Ravirri blades are outfitted as High-Frequency weapons, the length of the blade activated upon being pulled from its sheath, which causes a 'tearing' electrical sound. In its startup, the spooling of the blade's vibrations achieve higher frequencies than attainable through normal operation- This has lead to a few Ravirri duelists to practice a form of swordsmanship that involves unsheathing their blades and attacking during the same motion, only to return their blade to their sheath directly after the strike, effectively only attacking during the blade's 'startup' on each strike. The startup of the blade is engaged upon unsheathing the weapon.

The Forging of a Ravirri blade allows it to withstand incredible punishment before needing repair, the blade keeping its shape for years of intense use. Of course, the blades being made of Ravirri Steel make them very heavy for their already-large size, being incredibly dense. For example, a Ravirri blade the size of a Human katana would weigh nearly 30lbs, where the Human counterpart would weigh around 3lbs. While this would make the swords nigh-unusable by smaller races, a physically-fit Ravir could wield their swords as a Human might wield their own counterparts. Enhancing their usability despite their weight, Ravir-forged blades are masterfully worked, and are perfectly balanced.

Ravirri blades come in many shapes, sizes, and utilities, with blades chosen by their wielder for their qualities in battle. Smaller blades designed for maximum piercing stab power, large blades rested on the shoulder for extra slashing and crushing damage- Different shapes and sizes depending on the wielder's strength and preference. While there are no shortage of blades and spears, there are no hammers or any other blunt form of melee weapon in the Ravirrin's arsenal, the reptilian warriors following their code even to today.

An average warrior will have their primary blade and a machete-like side-sword as a backup blade, both encoded to the warrior's specific biometrics. If the hand of someone other than the intended wielder tries to draw the blade, nothing will happen, the blade effectively jammed in the sheath as if blade and sheath were one. In addition, someone lacking Ravir DNA touching the hilt would find the blade deactivating, disabling the vibroblade or energy (frosten/solus) features.

-Nobles, however, often employ extendable blades housed in gauntlets atop one of their forearms as an extra option in their duels, hidden inside of an armored gauntlet until they spring out for use.-
    Abilities:
-Ravir blades are likely among the strongest you'll find, understandable when you consider the race shunning ranged weaponry for the 30,000+ years of galactic conquest. Due to their sharpness and weight, as well as their ability to hold a cutting edge despite incredible punishment, allows these blades to be very destructive when wielded by a skilled Ravir. Attacks against bare flesh, kevlar, and low-tier plate armors are devastating, with slashes against even the highest-grade armor causing damage. With a stab, the blade can go through most modern military materials, as well as anything less durable. 1ft thick concrete wall? Sword's gonna crush through it.
-The swords are very, very durable, able to be used for an average of two decades before needing to be replaced. This also extends to a resistance to heat. A plasma sword clashing with a Ravir's sword would find the lizard's blade remaining unmelted.
-Due to the weight of the swords, the wielder does not specifically have to rely on the weapon's powerful cutting power- Even attacking with a blunt edge or the hilt would cause crushing damage. Add in the cutting edge, and a Ravir sword becomes something you very much do not want to straight-up block. If you block with a sword or something similar of weaker materials, there is even a chance of the blade simply breaking through the weapon and embedding itself in the enemy's chest.

    Limitations:
-Incredibly heavy. While this adds to the destructive power of the swords, it can make wielding these weapons ponderous and awkward for one without the proper strength.
-Most Ravir swords are vulnerable to EMP, shutting down the vibroblade-like features until the blade's battery is repaired or replaced. However, even a Ravirri-Steel sword without the HF features is a dangerous weapon, and is still very sharp, able to cut through any armor that isn't plate.
-Ravir swords are swords. The range of their effectiveness is limited to the reach of their wielders.
-While durable, Ravir weaponry does eventually wear out, and due to the nature of their forging, they cannot be sharpened, and attempting to repair one isn't going to restore it to its former glory. Once a sword reaches a breaking point, or otherwise dulls, it has to be reforged or replaced entirely. The Ravir in the Milky Way have few replacement blades, and do not have access to a neutron forge.
-People dodge a lot. So it's easy. Don't get hit.

HOW does this space magic work?:

-Long Story short, the Ravir are technologically-advanced. It's Science Fiction.-
As explained above, Ravir-forged swords are crafted with an incredibly-dense composite steel that is created with pressure and heat unattainable using technology present in the Milky Way, a Neutron Forge. Using an Astatine-209 (Which is manufactured by the Ravirrin) seed, nuclear fusion is attained- but the energy needs to be absorbed by the forge itself and stabilized using Neutron-Neutron fusion, which absorbs the energy created by the Astatine fusion. Normally, this would merely stabilize the contents of the forge.. In all but a small 'break point' where the clashing fusion reactions create conditions where the Smith can turn raw materials into Ravirri Steel. Of course, the technique and materials used are only an echo of the forging used by the Watchers.
In specialized forges, the incredibly-dense steel that is created is done so in the mold of a sword to be crafted, basically 3d printing the sword in a desired structure. With the anomalous conditions in a Ravirri Neutron Forge, each molecule that makes up the metal of the blade is quantum-locked to each other, albeit in a more primitive form than the forging used in Watcher Steel. This is what keeps the blades so durable, in addition to the materials used.

    History:

For hundreds of thousands of years, the Ravir stagnated as tribals on their home planet, Scilar, killing each other with simple weaponry, or simply their claws and teeth. About 32,000 years ago, the tribal warriors were visited by a race of ancient alien beings who were incredibly technologically-advanced. Whether these beings, called 'The Watchers' by the Ravir, cared for the Ravir as a young race, or perhaps an asset in the making is unknown. Why they uplifted the Ravir is lost to time, as the Watchers quietly and suddenly disappeared after the saurian race achieved their first Industrial Revolution, leaving behind technology and knowledge that would be unraveled and reverse-engineered by the Ravir over thousands of years. Included in this knowledge was how to create the swords presented to the First Swordsmen, the strongest Ravir chieftains on Scilar that had received the gifts of the Watchers. Upon first contact, the aliens gave the chieftains gifts fitting of their culture- the strongest swords the Watchers could forge, specifically for the Ravir... But even tens of thousands of years later, in modern times, the Ravirrin has not yet perfected their understanding and implementation of Watcher technologies, their swords' durability and refinement far cries from the swords still carried by modern-day Ravirrin Chieftains.

    Watcher-Forged Blades:
-Note, there is a good chance that the Aindivasi (Nomad's Firstborn) possess a few of these weapons as well, as they too are connected to the Watchers.

    Attainability: Semi-Closed.

For an inhabitant of the Milky Way to obtain such a blade, they would have to steal it from one of the few Ravir Exiles in the galaxy, or somehow gain enough trust to be given one.

TL;DR, I thought it would make sense for a race of militaristic beings that only use melee weaponry to have powerful melee weaponry.
