You're the boss in a video game, what're the enemies/traps/or etc. stationed right before the boss room? Also- if you want to go into more detail, what's the theme of your dungeon, your one weakness in your boss fight, how many hits does it take to beat you, and what do you drop when defeated?
Mine is just the water level. Periodically throughout the level I'll mock the player by saying "gotta stay hydrated!" in a grating tone of voice. I only have one voice line.
Mine has no enemies. It's just a labyrinth full of rigged shotgun traps. If you turn a corner the wrong way or step on the wrong tile, you're dead. Instantly. Once you get to the boss room, you don't need to kill me because I die automatically. It's at this point you learn you were in a submarine the whole time, and I just blew up the reactor.
We both have to take insulin and ketamine at the same time. If you last longer than you're the new boss and this repeats. Forever.
I don't-- I'm doing this for one of my characters. FUCK you, this is a character-based writing prompt thread now. Crimson is the boss, in their new combat proxy. There are no enemies - it plays out like a survival horror game. You encounter them several times throughout, and their voice lines are always... uncharacteristically peaceful, given their appearance and status as antagonist. Every time they show up, you just barely get away - you fight them at the very end, and only the very end.
Mine is this: expanding on TripTiCus's idea, it's mainly a water level, but you have to escort an npc through it. The npc has very few hit points, and will run off at the slightest hint of danger, forcing the player to search them down. There are many tight passages the player has to go through, and to top it all off, it's on a time limit. There are no checkpoints, meaning that if the player or the npc they're escorting dies, the player has to redo the whole dungeon again. As for the boss, It'd be Spectra. Her boss room is littered with turrets that will tear through the player's health unless they dispatch of them quickly. She fights with a mech which goes through 4 phases, a walking phase. a flying phase, a swimming phase, and a phase where it transforms into a spider-like figure, and the player has to cut of all its limbs. Once the mech is dealt with, the player faces off against Spectra herself. She mainly fights with her Vibroblade, but she isn't afraid to use her various firearms against the player. All this while the timer is still counting down. Once the player finally reaches the end of this hell, they're rewarded with..... a single gold coin. Which does absolutely nothing.
a straight hallway, with a locked, indestructible gate at the end. as soon as you approach it, a computer appears in front of you. for it to unlock, you must beat the entirety of friday night funkin without losing even once. only gamers get to fight me.
I'm not a proper boss fight, instead it's that one 'boss' where it's really just a series of various mechanics and puzzles that lead up to either a literal or metaphorical 'press button to win'. Ideally it'd be the annoying kind, the kind that takes several people to complete and multiple hours to do the first time- think a day one run for a raid in your MMO of choice.
