    Name: Immolation Cloak
AKA: Eaba'at nar Allah, Mobile Plasma Membrane, 'Like Wearing a Novakid', Suicide Bomber's Delight

Description: Due to the nature of the 'cloak,' appearances vary wildly. The one constant is the tubes which must be parallel along the surface of the material they are built into and the gas container that they must terminate at.
There are two different common 'active' states that both have distinct appearances. When the 'defensive' state is active, the tubes flare with light as the gas ions held within the tubes are rapidly ionized to a highly energetic state. This makes directly touching the user painful where the tubes are, and any damage which causes the tubes to break results in a spray of plasma being rapidly and painfully ejected.
The 'offensive' state intentionally ejects plasma from the tubes on activation, acting similar to a plasma grenade detonating centered on the wearer while reducing the danger to the wearer.
The 'inactive' state leaves the tubes clear, as the gas is not colored when not ionized.
Because of the nature of ejecting plasma, immolation cloaks are best operated with equipment which is energy-weapon resistant.

    Abilities:
-Detonate a plasma grenade centered on the self without dying
    -Break grapples with extreme heat
-Make people think twice before slashing you with a sword
-Can be turned on and off so it isn't always glowing

    Conditional Abilities (Optional):
-Immolation cloaks, in either common active states, are extremely effective against phase-matter creatures and any other organism which has a general weakness to plasma.

    Limitations:
-Light you on fire if you're flammable
-If the break in the defensive state isn't clean, the plasma leak can be inward
-Plasma ejection can only occur once before the gas needs to be replaced and/or the tubes need to be repaired (from either 'defensive' or 'offensive' ejection)
-If a break occurs in the inactive state, all the gas rushes out of a given tube, making it less effective. Non-broken tubes may still activate normally
-Needs to be turned to the 'defensive' state before it can be turned to the 'offensive' state, effectively taking two turns for the offensive plasma ejection

    Conditional Limitations (Optional):
-The 'offensive' state requires careful engineering and, subsequently, any equipment with it is more fragile

    How does it work:
A set of heat-conductive tubes carry gas to the areas in question to be covered by the cloak. When active, the gas is rapidly ionized, creating a plasma-membrane. Depending on the engineering involved, this gas can also be intentionally ejected. Otherwise, it is only ejected in response to a 'break', which can be rather hazardous to an attacker.
This is distinctly different from plasma shields in that it only offers defense from direct contact. It offers no protection from firearms, and can actually be a hazard in a gunfight. That said, the plasma only pulses when its turned on, so one can simply not turn it on and avoid any dangers involved.

    Flavor text:
"We never got easy fights. When you're hunting the people we were hunting, you always made sure to be prepared. Sometimes they would grab you. That's when we'd get them, during a grab. After that, they'd be all alone, and they'd be easy pickings." -Jibril, Hashashim

Immolation cloaks, like so many other technologies in the Fringe, were developed with funding from venture capitalists willing to risk their investment on unorthodox technologies. And, like most of these developed technologies, they never took off in Civspace. It's hyperspecialized for a niche that doesn't need filling, after all. They modest success in police forces who want to kill anyone who touches them just wasn't enough to keep business afloat.
When Energistic Defense Solutions went under, a few of the developers stole copies of the blueprints and went to try their luck in the Fringe. Here, unbeknownst to those in Civspace, there did exist such a niche to be filled, and not just for militarized police.

Referenced Technologies (Optional): Phase matter mentioned

    Attainability: Open
