So I've had a little scenario playing around in my head for a while now and finally decided to post it. Here's the deal: All the Fringe nations have fallen, either related to the current catastrophe or something else. The Ruin's taken hold and our brave heroes are forced to retreat. To where? Garlen. BUT! The twist is that you can only send half your characters (rounded up) into our favourite funky pocket of existence (sorry zecon125). The rest have to stay outside and do their best to survive in the new, apocalyptic environment they find themselves in. Who do you send and who do you leave to survive in ruin-space. How do they fare?
Huh. I only have 4 characters, so two of them can go in... Mir definately goes to Garlen (And loses his right arm in the process because it's inorganic), and for the other one... Purple Palm. Bones is a forlorn, so he would degrade slowly in garlen, and demetrius would have fun fighting around in the apocalypse.
Belle, Tahi, Senna and Cedric would all be able to retreat. The ones that stay and absolutely destroy the Ruin would be Winston, Sulliver, Creak, Doctor Fux, and Paul Jasonsenson.
Edit: Purple Palm just got permakilled by a whole-ass ship turning him into paste, so now uh... Demetrius flees to garlen
Diana stays to fight the ruin alongside Evaline and PRINCESS GENOCIDE whilst Jessica and MOTHER retreat to garlen to tend to the people left behind
Naru flees to Garlen with Dox and Akuma stays behind to fight the Ruin because their only real purpose in life is to fight anyway
I was hesitant to post in this thread, but I've been dragged in! Dox flees to Garlen - only to have her augments degrade. She then seeks medical attention to get her augments removed and probably to have new arms cloned when she finds this out. I'd assume her having neural augments in particular will be very bad with Garlen. Aria flees to Garlen and begins to degrade. Seeing no way out, she begins to make contingency after contingency to keep herself alive - probably educates herself in robotics as quickly as she can, sparing no expense, and attempts to use Garlen-native materials to recreate a neuromorphic processor and supporting systems. She is probably unsuccessful due to the complexity of her system if nothing else, and dies. Ry flees to Garlen as well. She, unlike Aria and Dox, is... completely fine. She ends up replacing that luminous right eye of hers, but that's all. Akra stays to fight the Ruin and dies. What Crimson does would be dictated entirely by what the Visitant administration does about it.
Grey already lives on Garlen and would probably let everyone hang out at his house or something and cook them all food or whatever.
I have five main characters currently so to save the headache I'm going to leave Isis out of the picture. She gets to be everywhere at once. Or wherever Osiris goes. Gossa stays behind, 100%. She feels that she embodies the very nature of the Fringe, lawless, neutral, and strong. It would be heretical to flee the place that she resonates so strongly with to her and she's pretty sure she can take a tentacle space monster. She's a physicist so she could probably find a way to sling that baby into the Milky Way's black hole. Renaize might be the final bastion of ruinless freedom in the fringe, maybe, due to Gossa's sheer willpower. Koo goes to Garlen, no question. Garlen itself is fucking built for Koo, being an archeologist she'll be fascinated with the rich history of Garlen and will never grow bored with a dedicated focus on the planet. Praxis goes to Garlen, easy. She'll chill with Grey and goad Aria into staying with her because she doesn't like the idea of the Ruin crushing her and her loved ones. She probably finds a way to replace her pacemaker with, like, a visitant symbiote and probably finds a way to turn Aria into a metanoid so she doesn't get thanos'd by the degrading nature of Garlen. Cadcara stays behind. She figures she could make a decent killing making cybernetics for the people who are fighting the Ruin. She'd probably be pissed that she would have to live on a ship, though.
