    Name: "Salamander" skin

    Description: Under normal conditions, "Salamander" appears to behave identically to the more common, run-of-the-mill synth skins that are available on the market. The real abilites of the augment are revealed when it's directly exposed to sunlight or any other source of ultraviolet lighting (UV). Under those circumstances, the skin darkens, as a mean of protection from the harmful rays that would otherwise damage or bleach the skin, similar to how organics develop a tan; but at a much more accelerated rate. The stronger the UV lighting, the darker it becomes, and cases of it becoming pitch-black are not unheard of in situations where the rays would become a serious and immediate threat.

    Abilities:
    • Offers some really good UV shielding, which in turns protects the wearer from damages caused by it! No more bleaching, no more degrading, no need to replace it every now and then because it got damaged just by going out during a sunny day;
    • Additionally offers protection from all the other harmful radiation that melanin protects from;
    • The darkness of the skin depends on how intense the UV rays are. The stronger the rays, the darker it will become, and the time to go from the "neutral" state to the appropriate stage will increase. It usually takes 20-30 seconds for it to change the coloration of the skin.
    Conditional Abilities (Optional):
    • You can look cool;
    • The only way for a synthetic to get a tan, even temporarily;
    • Doesn't need to be replaced that often, unless it's been damaged by some means other than sunlight degradation.
    Limitations:
    • The darker the skin is, the higher the internal temperatures; the user needs to have a good internal cooling, or have some other means to avoid overheating.
    • Doesn't work with other custom synth-skins, like TrueSeal. It's either this or that.
    Conditional Limitations (Optional):
    • It's a high-end addition to any synth on the market, making it more expensive than your everyday artifical skin;
    • Usual synth-skin limitations. Don't expect it to stop bullets.
    How does it work: "Salamander" functions similarly to organic skin; on the entire surface of the material there is synthetic melanin present, either stored right underneath it, or in special pigment containers in the body of the user. In response to light, the melanin is transported to the outer-most layer of the skin in varying amounts, which properly protects it from harmful rays. When the threat subsides, the melanin is promptly "sucked" back in, back into place where it was stored, waiting for another time it's needed to be used.

    Flavor text: Originally created to be attached onto hard-labor/heavy-duty android in synths that were exposed to huge amounts of ultraviolet light on daily basis in an attempt to cut the costs of needing to replace and repair their skin that often. It was a niche product, but the true "boom" of it's popularity would be when it hit the civilian markets, causing it to be mass-bought by many private figures and everyday people.

    You can also get synthetic hair that functions similarly to the skin. Functions the same way as the rest does.

    Alright, I only have two concerns. One, how does it react to EMPs? Two, please specify it's incompatible with other types of synthskin like TrueSeal.

    You wouldn't be yourself if you didn't ask a bajillion questions under an app, eh?

    1. EMPs will disable the flow of the melanin inside the skin; it will be stuck in the position it was as the pulse went off, and it will take a few hours for all the nooks and crevices to return to their original shape and allow the pigment to flow again. It doesn't need to be replaced everytime an EMP goes off, but it certainly is going to be an annoyance when it happens.
    2. Incompatible for now- Unless through some IC magic and discoveries both of those will be merged, somehow, which I don't doubt will happen, but will not happen anytime soon. Added, though.
